Why did it have a tow package? That's because he would hook up the motorcycle trailer and haul our dirt bikes out to the national forest when we would go on poker runs, hare scrambles, and enduro motorcycle races. Now for all of my motorcycle guys on here, in the pic that middle motorcycle on the trailer was his Rokon. Most motorcycle people don't even know what that was. :-) \r\n Those back seats that flip up in the back? Well that was my fort as a child on many road trips. Seatbelts back then? ha! I crawled all over that thing going down the road. \r\n Those little scratches on the blue metal part where the seats fold down? That is a combination of both motorcycle gear being put in the back along with me playing with my Matchbox cars as a little kid in my fort area of those seats. My father didn't like that I had scratched up his car either. I would also get yelled at if I slammed the doors to hard as a kid. (what old school folks haven't had that happen to them?) \r\n The car stayed in a garage for most of it's life. When I was older (and could reach the pedals), I was only allowed to back it out, wash and clean it, then drive it back in. That was a big deal for me as a kid. \r\n That is also the original mileage on the car. It had 61,095 when I sold it. \r\nThe side woodgrain is new and has been replaced. The original was all sun faded and weathered. That was really the only part of the that would have needed to have been replaced. From what I can tell in the pics, someone did a really nice job on that. \r\n My father was an automotive mechanic for 45 years and yes those bills in the pics are from when he owned Knight's Garage. \r\n Those rear rubber foot steps on the rear bumper? Notice that they have some spots missing on each end? Well that's because one of our dogs at the time decided to chew on the rubber with it's teeth. My father was pretty close to ending a dog that day. (he didn't, but was mad enough about it) \r\n Oh, and the heater worked phenomenal in this car. How do I know? Well my father and I used to play a game called, Who Will Holler First. We would roll up the windows in the winter time, turn the heater on full blast, and who ever hollered first (meaning that it was too hot) lost the game. I used to cheat my putting my face against the door glass going down the road because it was the only thing that was cold and my father would say that was cheating! It was a great original car but needed the woodgrain and trim replaced and restored. I drove it regularly to kids baseball games and family outings. I kicked myself after selling it because it was such a good car. In the fall of 2022 I found it listed in the estate auction of the guy I had sold it to 10 years earlier. I ended up buying it back at the auction and shipped it to Missouri. It had deteriorated a lot since I had sold it. It had been stored in a building with a dirt floor and the underside looked nothing like it had when I sold it in 2012. The brakes were locked up and the fuel tank was full of holes. We rebuilt the carb but it never did run like it did before I sold it. It also had a bad vibration between 60-70mph. That may be from the tires that I had installed in 2010. The lights and blinkers were also sketchy after it came back from Canada. I sold it in March of this year to a gentleman in Illinois.
