While not 100% sure, but most boats of this era in WA spent most of their time in salt water, so salt corrosion can be an issue. A noted exception would be boats that spent weekdays, and winters in the fresh water shorelines in Seattle. As to keeping wood boats in water, that is sound advice but you must consider location. I've spent a lot of time at Lake Tahoe, and I will attest that virtually no woodies are kept in the lake over the winter. The one exception may be Thunderbird, the 55' motor yacht once owned by Bill Harrah, and now owned by the boats preservation group named Foundation 36. Owners of woodies up in the basin pull the boats out fill their bilges with water to keep the planks swollen. Other normal storage things are also done, drain the gas or add StaBil, remove battery or trickle it, cover it etc. \r\nWood boats? Then to haul it out, what another $500 to a grand? Add that to the bid and it\u2019s probably met expectations.
