And come to think of it, it it *had* been driven 100k miles, I think it would look a whole lot worse. Eg., look at the driver's seat. Yes, it's coming apart at the top (where the sun hits it the most, natch) but look at the condition and shape of the lower cushion. That seat does *not* have a lot of hours in it. (He\u2019s the oldest grandchild.) After less than a year of ownership he was driving back from a family weekend at the cabin and the timing belt snapped on the highway. A local car dealer was running a $3k minimum trade gimmick and he ended up trading it on a brand new 1996 Hyundai Accent GT with a 5spd. \r\n\r\nWhen I got my license in late 1996, as a junior in high school, my parents made us share the Accent. Problem was, I was supremely anal and always wanted the car to be spotless and wanted to keep the mileage low and he liked to drive around for hours on end and pick up his friends for different shenanigans. Our personalities were too far apart to share a car so I decided to buy my own vehicle that I could care for how I saw fit. My friends all drove fox body mustangs, eclipses, 300zxs, Conquests... one of the rich kid\u2019s parents had even bought him a brand new 1997 prelude...what did I buy? A 1987 Honda Civic. It was a blue 4 door sedan with a 5spd manual. Had like 180k miles on it but it was in great shape and it ran perfect. I took care of that car like it was a LaFerarri. The paint was always spotless, the depth and shine like you\u2019d find on a trailered show car. It wasn\u2019t the fanciest car in the school parking lot but it was mine, and I paid for it with my own money (well, my parents bought it and I paid them back.) \r\n\r\nIt survived one rear end collision on the night I was supposed to graduate, graduation got rained out.
