First thing is that this is a 2.5 not a 2.0 (06-07 WRX had a 2.5L engine - EJ255 engine code - so yes, the donor car was a 2007 WRX (I think around 50k miles IIRC) USDM which means drive by wire and the 4 pot front brakes and 2 pot rears). The car made 269 RWP and 321 ft/lbs of torque on a Dynojet dyno. Even without traction control engaged, on dry pavement the car does not spin in 2nd or 3rd in a straight line thanks to the limited slip differential and the big rear tires and mid-engine. The racelogic traction control was put in place for 1st gear only which will spin. The wood glassed into the engine cover is balsa wood. I put this in place because the fiberglass engine cover tends to sag in the middle without support and it doesn't look or fit right when that happens. The balsa with glass fixes the sagging and prevents it from happening over time, and these supports are not there to address any structural rigidity of the car - since this is a steel tube frame chassis, the fiberglass body has no stresses on it and has no impact on the structure/chassis. You could remove the fiberglass body completely and drive the car without it. Car weighs 2150 with a full tank of gas and no driver. Car is corner balanced. As to which racing class this would compete in, it would likely go into a numbered \"ST\" class like ST1, ST2, ST3, etc. Those use a power to weight ratio as a main determination for which number you would be in, and the nice thing about the 818 is that with its turbocharged engine, you can run different tunes via the Cobb Accessport to deliberately put yourself into a given ST series. This is what several others who race the 818 have done. I think ST3 is what they ended up doing. The other mods were done specifically for reliability and to set the car up to be ready to make a lot more power (examples of reliability mods include things like a killer-B windage tray and oil pickup tube, tial bypass valve, Crawford AOS, Setrab oil cooler with thermostatic oil control valve and massive AN fittings and lines, etc). With the fuel system on the car today (Raidum engineering fuel surge tank with built-in adjustable regulator and Walbro 274 pump, IAG Performance fuel rails, and all PTFE lined AN hose and fittings for the entire fuel system), the car is ready for a bolt-on turbo like a Dominator 1.5xtr and also fully ready to run E85. All you'd need to do to make 500HP to the *wheels* is bolt on that turbo, get some ID1000 or ID1200 fuel injectors and a dyno tune via the Cobb AccessPort. About the only thing used from the kit is the body, frame, headlights, and tail lights. The by-the-book build uses only parts from the Subaru donor car and in a lot of cases, that leaves a lot to be desired. The seats end up being way too high, the WRX wheels look weird, the wiring harness is an absolute mess, the intercooler is not functional, the shifter is sloppy and stiff and difficult to known if you are even in gear and if so which one. I spent 5 years on this build and over $50k (receipts for everything), plus many hundreds of hours of my time addressing and perfecting everything. I fabricated dozens of parts out of aluminum and steel - anything that wasn't perfectly functional was addressed. The gas pedal mount, the coolant expansion tank and also modifying the mounting point for it and the fabricating mounting brackets for the AOS so these were actually mounted in a location high enough to work properly, the AWIC setup, the steering rack de-powering and rack mounts, racing harness mount tabs welded to frame, seat bracket mounting points welded to frame to allow a wider range of seat adjustment, MR2 shifter modified to be adjustable, custom shift cables and custom aluminum bell crank shift linkage at the transmission end. The hood trunk and deck-lid are hinged with mini quick-latch push button quick-releases instead of the by-the-book massive chrome hood pins that require you to completely remove the panels from the car (what are you going to do at a car show? Set the hood on the ground?) Obviously all the add-ons you see did not come in the kit or off the donor car like the wheels, harnesses, racing seats, gauges, all the exterior carbon components including side mirrors, front splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler. Your head will stick above the FFR roll bar so I removed it and fabricated a taller one that was mandrel bent from the proper seamless steel tubing used in fabrication of professional race car roll-cages and welded it onto the car. All the exterior vents and louvers are aftermarket and I had all these powder coated as well as many other items powder coated on the car. The wiring harness took 2 months alone, getting it flawless for the car in length and position. All OEM connectors, properly sheathed, soldered, dual-wall heat shrink tubing on all splices. Literally zero electrical issues or gremlins on this car. Every single wear item from the donor car was replaced including all ball joints, tie-rod ends, wheel bearings front and rear, brake pads, brake rotors, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate. Brake calipers were rebuilt with all new seals. The exhaust and bellmouth were custom fabricated by me out of mandrel bent 3\" stainless steel, with a straight-through Kooks muffler.
