I suspect that this car was delivered with leather, but that the leather has been replaced at some point. The Dino-exclusive nomenclature was meant to pay homage to Enzo's prematurely departed son Alfredino who suggested a V6 road-going car be built. Furthermore, if you bought a 206 or 246 new and needed service, many owners were pointed to a Fiat service dealer rather than Ferrari. The engines in all but the final production Dino 246 had FIAT casting marks on the wheels and on the engine blocks. \n\nRegarding the cam covers, there are 2 types: early and late. The early ones were magnesium alloy (Elektron I believe it's called) and were a DOW 9 or 17 process finish and were unpainted but usually ended up a bit of stained brown or green color as they oxidized. The late ones were bare aluminum, but as far as I can tell this change happened after the switch to the 2.4 liter-engined production cars which were assembled in the Maranello factory. If this car has magnesium covers, one would hope they were NOT sandblasted before painting as they will start to corrode rather spectacularly if they were. \n\nThis auction car is well within the series 2, 2.0 liter production stuff and likely had the wood wheel pictured installed when it was new. Also, regarding the upholstery, the leather optioned cars should have had smooth leather on all surfaces as is shown here. I have a factory brochure or press photo somewhere showing this but I've observed it personally on a few cars also. \n\nOne thing that stands out as original to me is that shift boot. The originals had a unique puffiness and sheen that is seemingly impossible to recreate - most cars have boots that are tattered, missing or replaced with leather as they were very fragile. We did have a bill of sale and a transfer of ownership, but that was all. \n\nHowever we were able to clear customs and register in CA at our local DMV, no muss no fuss.
