This is a huge plus. I had one years ago that was 1979 Ferrari fly yellow with the factory DMC black vinyl stripe package, with black leather interior. Great car. I put over 100K miles on it, trouble free. I did upgrade the cooling system, put bosch fusebox in, replaced the exhaust manifold bolts (one had to be drilled), replaced the fuel pump and boot, upgraded the taillight boards, and put a centerforce clutch in. All in all cost me about $1,500 in upgrades. I also lowered the front, which greatly improved the looks and handling. I averaged over 30 mpg on my cross-country trips (yes, I drove it all over the eastern US). Having a stainless steel body is great, until you get in a an accident with it. It's not like a typical car where you can work the metal, apply some filler, and then prime and paint. A stainless steel body panel could never recover completely from damage. So when a DeLorean takes a sizable dent or other damage; the body panel gets pounded out/pulled as close as possible, then body filler, then...........................you have to paint the entire car. Nowadays body panels are available through the \"new\" Delorean\" company, but back in the day, it just wasn't possible (or cost efficient) to source a new panel.
