His dad of which the bike is still Titled, rode the bike a bit for a few years and then parked it. This is the early version of the 1968 DT1. This is a 00 version and was built from 00101\u201302950. They are only approximately 50 or a little bit more of these versions recorded by Dave Kolbo. This bike has the correct 4 o\u2019clock kicker which was known to break and was changed to 6 o\u2019clock kicker possibly in the second or third version. It also has the correct rear fender that does not have the finger on the left side under the seat to hold the wire. It also has the correct rubber covers for the front shocks that are different in the leader versions. Bike also has the correct handlebars, I\u2019m just hoping they\u2019re not bent. Most people have no idea but this early version has a different color wire loom cover on the left side. The last differences the blue high beam indicator. Most versions have read, but the early versions have blue. There have been some discrepancies where Red were put earlier and blue later but we\u2019re not sure at the factory how that came about. The most difficult part to find, for the spike will be the correct tires, which are unobtaining most of the time. I believe I know somebody who has a set, but I don\u2019t know if they will cut loose of them without quite a bit of coinage. The spike has over 100 hours of work to do and a few thousand dollars or more to be restored back to possible Concorde showing. I am in possession of three 1968 DT1\u2019s. I own 00500, 11078, last week I purchased it at 11,xxx version from Iowa that\u2019s running with the title for $2750. This bike could fetch a higher price but in the condition it\u2019s in it may not do so. It all depends on if somebody comes out with a huge purchase price or in the last five minutes decides to snipe it. FYI for those that aren\u2019t familiar we have a private 1968/69 DT1 group on FB.
