I believe the 1985-1987 (final year) were made in Mexico. \n\nYes, I believe the majority of the car if not all of it to be original paint. The paint meter readings are consistently low single digits as you can see in the images #100 - 109. \n\nThe bed liner is a semi-rigid material that is easily removed. There is no rust in the bed area and also appears to have not been repaired or repainted. \n\nThere are six tie-down hooks. Four on the bed side walls, one on the center of the rear window wall, and one on the center of the inside of the tailgate. I believe these are factory installations. \n\nYes the automatic transmission does \"kick down\" on the pedal but can also be activated on the column shifter. The transmission shifts smoothly and interior road noise is minimal at highway speeds. \n\nSomeone asked about my confidence in driving it for 1500 miles if they were winning bidder and wanted to fly in and drive home. I suggested that it seems to be capable of that however, the new owner might want to have new tires installed in preparation for the trip and that I would arrange to do that prior to pick up at buyer cost and with their approval for the brand or preference of tire maker. When they exceed the mechanical limit of the five rotating wheels, the odometer zeroes out. In the old days, this was a moment of celebration knowing you had a car that served you well. \r\n\r\nBut, because these cars have accumulated miles over many years and with different owners, it is uncertain as to how many of those miles have actually lapsed. I base my estimate of 106k on the general condition of this car and long term local ownership. TMU is the only way to accurately and acceptably describe the accumulated miles on any 5 digit odometer, even if it is a one owner car and has service documentation from new. There is no way of knowing if the odometer worked the entire time. Hence the use of the term TMU. \r\n\r\nAside from that, as others have noted, this is a solid driver with working features, local ownership, and what looks to have been a well cared for late series El Camino. The car came out of an estate sale with no accidents reported on the carfax and prior ownership spanning 23 years from 2000-2023. \r\n\r\nConsider the condition as you see it represented here, the information on the working features, and what you can afford to bid as well as transport costs and bid to your comfort level.
