Below you will find some additional history and information about the car :)\u2028\r\nTo start with the elephant in the room: the service history. Yes, this 164 is on its third engine. The transmission has also been replaced. Short of going through all the records (please see the gallery showing the excel spreadsheet which shows everything from 2002-current). Most notably, service includes 8 timing belt jobs (the most recent was completed this month), three power steering racks, a complete repaint, 38 oil + filter changes, and much more. All said and done, this 164 has had 119 visits to mechanics in the last 22 years across three owners totaling to $107,917. Pictured in the gallery is the binder accompanying the car (about 3-5lbs in weight) which contains all of the records from the last 20 years including original advertisements, dealer paperwork, service manuals, and more.\u00a0\r\nSafe to say it has been meticulously maintained and documented, yet it is still far from perfect. The torn seam in the driver seat is pictured to start. The seat bottom of the driver seat has limited motion and stays a bit angled up; it still adjusts up and down but does not move down as much as the passenger seat. There are paint imperfections pictured throughout the gallery, particularly on the front fenders where there is some cracking and chipped paint on the front splitter/lower bumper. Mechanically speaking, the car was just completely looked over and the recent work is noted in the gallery. The Alfa was sitting in a barn for about 2 years before being acquired by the current owner and subsequently underwent a minor refurbishment and needed a lot of love (and removal of one too many snakes on this serpent!) Since then, it runs and drives well but with an intermittent air bag warning light illuminated on the dash. There is always something to be remedied on a 30-year old Alfa given their temperamental nature, but in its current state and having done about 50 miles since its major servicing, it is running and driving nicely.\u00a0\r\nAll said and done, I believe this is a great example of a 164 that can be a project, daily driver, or weekend warrior. At 149,312 miles, the original engine was replaced with a used unit back in 2008. We will check back and see if there was any particular reason that led to the failure on the original service record, though I would assume after 150,000 miles and 15 years that Busso V6 finally gave up the ghost. \nFast forward 8 years and roughly 44,000 miles, that used, replacement unit also failed. The records for the rebuilt engine, which are attached in the gallery, do not detail that failure or its cause. Photos 187-189 show the record for the rebuilt engine at approximately 193,000 miles and shortly after it was brought back a diagnosis on a rough idle issue.\nThe removal and subsequent work on the heads was required to find a loose piece of metal (a screw) that was the cause and fix for the issue. That information can be found on the service record in photo 193.
