I bought the bike about 4 years ago on Bat from the seller Raffi. My bike is in the same condition. You can see the bike on the results section on the Bat website. The only thing I did was put an original 1969 sprocket and I changed out all the wiring, electronics and battery to new from Charlie's Place in Glendale, CA. Interesting is that Charlie told me Honda would use many of the 1968 parts on the 1969 bikes. That is why you see two different paint patterns on the tank. If you see the ad posted on the pictures listing in this ad you will see the paint design of my tank plus some bikes have the added stripe and some have the little round reflector on the front fender. My bike has it too but the ad posted does not show the front fender reflector If anyone questions why some 1969 bikes look different that is why because Honda in Japan was mixing the 1968 parts with the 1969 bikes also Honda did not keep the best of build records. Any time I take my bike to a car show I always get a group of people around the bike getting thumbs up and saying they had the same bike when they were younger and many times they ask if I am going to sell the bike. I decided I was going to buy a new CL. I was set to take biology classes at a high school on the other side of town and I wanted that new Honda. \u00a0\r\n\r\nFor several weeks I vacillated over which color to purchase. I leaned toward the Candy Red, but there was just something about the Daytona Orange and White that I preferred. I actually had Harley-Davidson blood boiling in me and the Orange & Black KR road racers were IT. \u00a0\r\n\r\nSo, with Cal Rayborn having won Daytona, I settled on Daytona Orange. Every one rode black or red motorcycles and I was going to stand out.\r\n\r\nI had money and 550 to 600 bucks was doable. I made a mistake. I told my Dad what I was going to buy.\r\n\r\nWhoa. He put his fist in my face and said, That's not going to happen.\u00a0 I shrugged and told him, It's my money. I earned it.\r\n\r\nWhoa # 2. He reminded me that I'd had my butt kicked a few times, but I'd never been hit by a Man. My Father was a WW II pilot for the duration, had previously before and after worked on oil rigs, and had done a little boxing himself.\r\n\r\nNo Daytona Orange Honda was bought. A few months later I bought an old Harley Panhead and the rest is history. I stored it at a friend's house for a few months, got it running, tested it, and then took it home. \r\n\r\nYears ago, I bought a ' 68 CL-350 ( Candy Red ) from an acquaintance. I had loaned him the balance needed to buy it. Later, he was relocating to Colorado and its cam chain had popped. It was dirt cheap. I bought it for Old Time's Sake and never did anything with it.\r\n\r\nLater, I found a mint 1968 CL-350 which barely had 2000 miles on it. Again, it was Candy Red. So once again I was denied the preferred color of my original goal.\u00a0 Thing is, over forty years later, there was MY new Honda 350. I won the auction by one penny. I was accused of cheating and was offered 500 dollars to let \" second place \" have it.\u00a0 No, I bid honestly and won MY motorcycle.\r\n\r\nStrange but true.\r\n\r\nThe relative point is : Although 100 % new and perfect right down to its OEM Bridgestone tires, it doesn't look quite as good as the cycle here.\r\n\r\nThe 1969 version listed looks incredible. The front fender reflector is no big deal, but actually it is. It proves Honda's attention to detail during the era. \r\n\r\nObviously, this 350 is a beaut to many of us. I have too many and can already sense how proud the new owner will be. \r\n\r\nAs an aside to my story, it wasn't long before I realized how correct my Father was. As \" spirited \" as I was, \u00a0I know I would have crashed the new bike. I was fortunate to work my way up and gain experience and respect.\r\n\r\nOne day during summer school I took a long lunch. I was late for the second half biology. The teacher wasn't going for any tardiness and kept me and another gal for an extra hour. \" No talking, you two ! \"\r\n\r\nFrom a pay phone I had called to tell my ride I'd be late. My Mom told me to walk home. Didn't I say it was across town ?\u00a0 Yes, I did..\r\n\r\nI headed out and hitched a ride. Along the way, the radio news confirmed Robert Kennedy had passed away.\r\n\r\nWow. That was something and the driver said the brothers and Marilyn would be back together again. Maybe you do. In general it is preferable for old Hondas to need the choke to start. You notice this model has 2 choke positions - full choke and just off choke plus a flapper in the choke plate that lets in additional air when the motor starts.\r\nNo question this CL350 is a head turner, but Honda built motorcycles to a standard that they could sell competitively. Great motorcycles but not a lot of polish. Chrome was thin, paint at least in the early days lacked primer. So a full restoration generally produces a motorcycle better than original. Again nothing wrong with that. Honda did not polish the outer motor cases of the CL350 and did not paint the inner motor cases. This example the outer cases are polished and the inner cases appear to be painted but might just be vapor blast cleaned.
