I worked on many 1958 Buicks during my over twenty years as a Buick dealership mechanic beginning in the early 1960's. They were a nice driving vehicle. I noticed a few things that I would want to change back to the original if I had it. Number one is the steering wheel. I always liked the larger original steering wheel with the horn ring over the smaller sport type steering wheel in this Buick. The text states that the Buick has original wheel covers. They are the deluxe full wheel covers for a 1967 Buick Electra. The wheel covers have the Buick tri-shield emblem. Buick didn't start using the tri-shield emblem until 1960.\r\n\r\nI also noticed an alternator has replaced the generator. That is a good up-grade if you plan on doing a lot of slow night driving or idling for long periods of time. I never had a problem with generators on my older vehicles. It looks like the front brake drums were replaced with later aluminum drums. The originals have been nonexistent for many years. Suspension parts like ball joints are also very rare. Kanter Auto has your cores rebuilt at a premium price.\r\n\r\nI never owned a 1958 but I had a chance to purchase a wagon just like this one in the late 1970's. A lawyer called around the Buick dealerships in the Miami, Florida area trying to settle an estate. The lawyer told me it was in a minor fender bender. I went to see the Buick, the minor fender bender had the right front bumper touching the ground. All the chrome, inside and out was badly pitted. When I called the lawyer back to find out what the Buick hit, I was told it was a city bus. I hope they didn't have to tow the bus away. The lawyer felt the Buick was worth a lot. He must have been getting a percentage of the estate's value.\r\n\r\nAll in all this Buick seems to have potential. The right person could have many years of driving and enjoying this Buick.
