Although they operate fine, they operate opposite, so that the heat on when dash lever says it\u2019s off, and vice versa. Seems this Tiger has the dash heat lever on, so heat is off. My wife did not want to ride in mine either until I finally realized the error. Previous owner had just stuffed rags up in the vents to block the heat. The paint job in the trunk is not near the quality of the rest of the car. I am guessing when the car the was painted, the painter asked the owner if he wanted the trunk done too, and gave it a casual prep and then sprayed it. Nothing is peeling, etc.. with it, it just is not laser smooth like the body of the car. \r\n\r\nI believe the battery hold down tabs look like they were twisted to accommodate a new/modern/replacement sized battery and fit new hold down rods somewhere in the car's past history. They can be bent or twisted back to 90 degrees if someone wants to do that. The battery is in there nice and secure and that is good enough for me.\r\n\r\nThe Footmans loops are there, they were probably hidden under the black vinyl trunk trim in the first trunk pic. The holes/black clips were visible in a pic. Another picture of them has been uploaded. \r\n\r\nThe car is an early MK1, body number 56 according the the tag, if there is any accuracy to that. I cannot speak if the trunk lid is original or not, but am sure that there is a chance as with most Tigers, an Alpine trunk could have been used during the past 58 years to restore it or fix something. These cars used pretty much the same external sheet metal. I would also pretty much bet that any Tiger out there nowadays has a little bit of aftermarket body panels or Alpine sheet metal on it somewhere. No one is parting out a Tiger and any parts someone is going to find in parts yards is going to be an Alpine donor. The valance panel looks like it is newer, but like with all replacement parts, we are all at the mercy of who is making what. I have received replacement body panels in the past for other british cars with no mounting holes or emblem holes so that does not surprise me.\r\n\r\nBut as far as ticking the Tiger boxes that I know of, along with the original tags, and good Rootes cert, this car does. On Mk1 and Mk1a Tigers there are three footman's loops. 2 on the rear bulkhead to support the false floor (present on your car) and the third on the middle of the inside of the trunk lid (clearly NOT there). There was originally a rubber impregnated, fabric, strap on the underside of the false floor (in the middle). This strap has a bent metal end that inserts into the footman's loop on the trunk lid to support the false floor so that the spare can be removed and the battery can be accessed without having to entirely remove the floor.\r\n\r\nI'm well familiar with Tigers, early and late as I restore them.
