No photos of the floor pan, suspension pan, rear seat area, shelf under the rear glass, etc. \r\n\r\nAlso as discussed, there are no photos of the car in bare metal before primer and paint so how much bondo under the paint is unknown. \r\n\r\nYou could build a patina 911 or rat rod with perfect gaps and little to no bondo as the factory built it, and then patina, age and dent the final paint work. \r\n\r\nAlternatively, you can do lousy metal work and just claim that is part of the patina and aging as many old cars have. \r\n\r\nOccasionally on BaT and elsewhere, we see original factory finish cars with patina, small dents, oxidizing, etc. (and no apparent bondo showing) that have just been cleaned (or not - barn finds). \r\n\r\nSeems to me that for the $175K this 911 may bring, photos to know what's under the paint would help the buyer know that the car will look exactly the same in 10 years as it does today. IIRC the front bonnet is fiberglass, so no I would not expect it to fit like a steel bonnet. Yes, the steel fabrication on the fenders and nose were designed and executed exactly as they came out. ROCS has a phenomenal reputation. \n\nYou can ask the seller why he didn\u2019t include front trunk photos, certainly I would have been happy to provide the full set of photos I had done for when I sold the car. \n\nIf you go back and look at auctions for restored cars on BAT, not just 911\u2019s but any restored car, and in particular a car restored by someone other than the seller, how many do you think show the bare metal? What percentage? 5%? 10% ? 30%? \u2026. I don\u2019t know the answer but having been around here for a long time and seen a lot of auctions, my guess is that the number of restored cars sold by the following owner here which have bare metal pictures is somewhere less than 15%. I would also suspect that the number of cars sold by the first owner after restoration, or the person who commissioned the restoration is somewhere less than 35%. Those are just educated guesses. So, although it may be nice, it does not happen often and its not imperative to the sale. Most people don\u2019t possess the industry eye to make any worthwhile conclusions from a few bare metal pictures. Also, how long would you like to leave a car in bare metal prior to primer and paint? How much filler is \u201clittle to no\u201d? How do you quantify that ? How do you know what is filler and what is not on this car, or any car on BaT for that matter? Even in the bare metal, how would you know where filler was used prior to primer? \n\nWe absolutely agree on a lot of things you mentioned. You can do great metal work, you can do lousy metal work and cover it up. The bottom line is any auction on BaT you wont know. There are times when brand new Porsches come from the port with \u201cport damage\u201d there are rules as to if it needs to be disclosed on a new car. I have seen plenty come from the port which had filler and paint work done by Porsche at the port. Just like on BaT the new car buyer wont ever know unless it exceeds the set number of panels. \n\nThe point of all of this is what it comes down to is the reputation of the seller or in this case the reputation of the builder. There is a long long waiting list for a ROCS car. When I was asked to sell this car the last time, that was the first time I got to see one of their builds in the flesh.
