That said, if you are not near a McLaren dealer, you might consider this as rarely will one owner's seat position match your own. \r\n\r\nThe seat needs to be gently unbolted, eased up, unhooked from the electronics, reset, then placed back in the car. This could take 3-4x before it feels right. Again, if you are shorter (sub 6' in height) this will likely be adjusted with the rear up a bit. If you are taller, say 6'2\"+ the rear will be lowered to fit your helmet, etc.\r\n\r\nThese are things people do not know so I mention them as a Senna owner. This car is designed to hug a track, not your local Walmart, so safety is a paramount concern as is visibility. There is no slide adjustment, this is a bit of \"trial and error,\" with the idea that the Senna becomes a part of you and only you.\r\n\r\nSure, you can drive it in almost any position, but there are about 4 holes in the rear portion and about 12 in the front. It is extremely subjective and something Doug DeMuro would not mention because like many of these internet yahoos, they do not own the car and do not know about these things.\r\n\r\nThis is a special car for a special owner who appreciates design and function. Miles are Good! You want to drive this car as the hydraulic fluids need to move. Gummed up works need to be bled out and recalibrated. The brakes, arguably the best ever made for ANY exotic car in automotive history - also need to be used more than 50 miles a year. Each rotor takes 7 months to prepare and the last thing you want is faulty brakes - or ones that you have no idea how they will work under heavy loads.\r\n\r\nThe car is mildly like a 720S, I owned one before buying my Senna. Mildly....as in nothing like it at all. The car is entirely redesigned in almost every aspect, particularly the suspension and rear end. There are obviously another 79HP and the car is much lighter. This is not intended to race a Dodge Demon down a drag strip - it is designed to tear the paint off any car once that drag strip makes its first turn.\r\n\r\nBruno Senna worked extremely close with McLaren to get the feel right. He and the Senna family would never have signed off on it if it did not feel like a race car. This makes a F40 feel like a slow, meandering sloth of a beast. If you have the time, it will take all you can to control it - as it is a much better car than you are a driver.\r\n\r\nThe Senna, to me, is the purest RACE FOCUSED car ever created. This is not just me saying it, but it has time and again beaten every track record and with so few in existence, I think this is like buying a Rolex Day Date, always a good look, always turns heads, and will likely keep its value for decades to come. If the current owner purchased an extended warranty it can be transferred. The good news about McLaren, compared to most exotic cars, is that you can extend the warranty to 10 to 12 years past production even when you aren\u2019t the original owner. That means this car can be under warranty, if the new owner so wishes, for another 6-8 years.\r\n\r\nHow much does a warranty cost? That would depend. It depends on the terms, the dealer and the car. Typically speaking it\u2019s going to be about $10-$15,000 a year for a Senna. You don\u2019t need to have an extended warranty but it is highly suggested. If something catastrophic goes wrong and it is not a wear or recall item, and accumulators are now largely considered wear items, it will pay for itself very quickly. If you do not ever plan to drive the car, you may be wasting your money.\r\n\r\nThat said, I don\u2019t think I would ever own any McLaren without an extended warranty. I have had 5 of them, and never regretted buying the warranty. As far as the 09 911 turbo that was one of our previous auctions, buyer was upset with some scratches/condition of paint so we did step #1 where we do our best to keep the sale together by offering remedies. The entire interior is taped off to protect it because there is very little room to remove it. The edges of the carbon are sharp and if you scratch your car (doing it yourself, it is on you - if they do it, McLaren replaces the part).\r\n2. Most McLaren dealers will do this for free. If you were to do it, it would take the better part of 6-8 hours.\r\n3. Carbon, while strong, can be cracked when torqued wrong. There are required specifications and if you exceed those or your wrench is off, you can crack your seat. Additionally, if you adjust your seat wrong, you have to repeat the process all over again, another 6-8 hours, if they adjust it wrong, they do it.\r\n4. The safety factor: They are trained to do this. We are not. If the seat is unsafe for you, it is unsafe for your passenger.\r\n5. Electronics - The seat is connected by wires underneath, like most seats. That said, it must often be reset or recalibrated once removed since the car knows something is amiss. Can you redo the dash of a Senna? I cannot. They can.\r\n6. Advice - The technicians at McLaren will advise you about the adjustment and give you feedback about what might be right or wrong based (again) on safety, helmet size, etc. You do not possess such knowledge. They do. So, you defer to the experts here.\r\n7. Tools: The tools are designed for the Senna. It is difficult to reach and again, carbon scratches for eternity - they do not come out. Do you have the proper tools to reach inside your $1M car and mess around a bit? I don't. Some of their tools are odd, weird looking, designed specifically for each car to reduce their time in the garage. Again, I do not have such tools. Even if I did, I am having a skilled professional, who literally trained at the MSO UK Factory on the Senna, do the work.
