As far as the AC, well, these cars have very little ventilation and with that big engine behind you, things get hot very quickly, so probably a good idea...\n\nThere are a few kinds of GT40s which are agreed to be \"original\" in various ways. First are cars built in period by Abbey Panels and finished by JWAutomotive, second are replicas built in period or shortly thereafter (Bryan Wingfield's cars, for example), third are Safir GT40 cars, built when Safir took over the rights, tooling, and updated the chassis design, fourth would be Superformance cars built on license from Safir GT40. (probably the most numerous at this point, I should imagine) Fifth would be the modern exact replicas from Gelscoe. I've left a few out, I'm sure. Lee Holman would be in there, somewhere, too. \n\nThere are quite a few small metalworking and race shops that have built remarkably exact copies of period GT40s- for example, David Brown in southern NZ, who built the monocoque for my car, 1149, builds one of the most accurate original car replicas from a set of original blueprints, as do Gelscoe. And there's a fellow in Maine who used to build and sell a lot of reproduction original bits for GT40s.
