The changes made to them did not benefit the health of the motor in any way and because of those changes, the engines fail prematurely. That said, we are not selling an RX-8...this is an RX-7 FD REW which is arguably the best rotary engine produced. Having owned four of them, I can tell you from experience that compression in the ~100 psi range is still very good. Is it like new? Of course not, but we are talking about a near thirty year old car. My brother and I each have one with over double the mileage of this car, both with very similar compression, and we drive them hard with no issues at all. A little bit of extra care and maintenance goes a long way. These have been my dream car since the first time I saw one, and it's a dream every time I get behind the wheel.
