The vacuum secondary stopped working except as a vacuum leak, so i blanked it off and ordered parts. A week later, the BMW dealer in Richmond, VA had not ordered the parts. It was 3 years old with about 40k miles when I bought it. about 100k when it was stolen and wrecked. At 100k, It had a steering box replacement, a differential rebuild, and a a transmission rebuild. The engine was getting tired too. That said, I did love it in spite of its lack of durability. Oh yeah... The rotoflex coupling of the driveshaft got me an extended stay in Memphis, where I ended up being robbed while waiting for the parts to show up. Never broke one on my Elans. The steering box may have been damaged by a Giant pothole on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Problems and all, I still would own it had it not been stolen and wrecked. Good memories. It was also my first air conditioned car.
