First, in some of the pictures, the gas door is not latched even though it functions as it should (although the same may not be said for the owner ! ) Secondly, the key fob has been repaired due to a tear in the original rubber for the unlock feature which potentially could have allowed moisture/debris to contaminate the circuit board. The key fob functions as it should and the circuit board is protected. Lastly, the front tire change was necessitated by a cut in the sidewall of one of the tires and so I replaced both front tires. This was a no-cost option on these cars, yet most do not have it. At the time of my data there were 21 alumni cars out of 112 (18.75%).\r\n\r\nI have not done an alumni analysis to see what happened on the second (or third) go-around for the Arnages, but I did for the Citroen SM.\r\n\r\nThis is what I found for the Citroen SM:\r\n\r\n\"Of the 72 closed auctions, 12 (16.67%) were \"no reserve\":\r\n46 Sold . . .(63.89%)\r\n26 RNM . (36.11%)\r\n\r\nThere were 12 \"alumni\" cars. 5 had higher bids the second time and 7 had lower bids. One car was offered three times and did worse each time, all RNM.\"\r\n\r\nOf course the almost 50/50 high bid change may not be a pattern for other cars...\r\n\r\nMy biggest issue in looking at the numbers is that the universe/sample size is so small that one or a few cars that do really well or really bad can skew the numbers a lot (true for the SM with Jerry Hathaway's Bonneville pickup/trailer/race car combo that sold for a multiple of regulars cars. When I did the numbers that included that auction I broke out that combo and did the numbers both ways. I did the same with Steve McQueen's 300 SEL 6.3. I decided that I should go by what happened at the close of the auction. Sometimes I learn that a RNM car did sell, other times that the buyer did not go through with the purchase. There is simply no way to correctly identify the true outcome for every car, so I am left to go by the published result at auction close. That applies to alumni cars as well. Basically I see each auction standing entirely on its own, counting only the published outcome at the close. Others may use a different methodology, but at least my method is consistent. In a few cases, usually for unusual results, I have noted if I learned of a different outcome after the fact.\r\n\r\nIn the case of your Bentley, as you noted, it was not the same car when auctioned the second time, as you had improved its condition considerably.
