Ironically, as the FACTORY solution to CA emissions in 1974 was \"make it run hotter\" (including removing fan vanes) once every three years I run the thing HARD for 90 minutes and go directly to the test and it does ok. Usually requires two trips to my guy as well 1) \"lean it out\" to pass (but it runs poorly) and 2) post test, \"back to normal.\" And that's WITH all the CA SMOG gear on the car. Don't ask about my 80s F-car. The cats are bolted in w/ flanges and only go on for the test. As the car was never Federalized from the start. There was a recent BAT thread about the police in Malibu and their hard on for fast/exotic cars w/ Idaho/Montana plates (they were basically \"profiling\" - looking for the combo of exotic metal and tax/free, SMOG free states).
