So it\u2019s parts issues, not maintenance or running.\r\n\r\nThe good: Really comfortable seats - the heated seats are excellent. I\u2019ve done 16-hour drives and gotten out not crippled. The car just eats up the miles at both legal and extremely extra-legal speeds - I\u2019ve had mine to 141mph (on the speedo) at WGI. They are fabulous fun cars to drive - they are a bit nose heavy, but still can be made to rotate nearly like my Miata racecar! Stupendous in the snow, completely unstoppable. And SUPER fun for ice-racing :)\r\n\r\n No electrical problems on mine at 200k, and on my wife's at 230k. Amazing storage area. Great back seats. The premium sound is worthy, if not excellent. visibility is excellent. Driver feel and car feedback is far above average. The \u201cSport Package\u201d suspension REALLY makes a difference over the slushy \u201cComfort\u201d package. The Nav/touchscreen is really just fine, if not exactly up to today\u2019s standards. Forget about the Bluetooth link, it will never work. \r\n\r\nLove the J-Gate auto. A little slow off the line but when the VVT comes on, you will pull on M5\u2019s - passing is never an issue. \r\n\r\nThe bad: interior fit and finish isn\u2019t quite BMW quality, and nowhere near Acura quality - things will eventually rattle. The control arm bushings wear out religiously every 65,000 miles. \r\n\r\nThe drivetrain is from the XC70 - You WILL blow a rear carrier bearing in the transfer case at 80,000 miles - don\u2019t despair. The bearing is available as an in-stock part from Bearings Inc. for $35 - just pull the part number off the old one. The labour on the repair is about $750.\r\n\r\nWhen this goes, have the shop put a fill and drain plug into the transfer case AND the transmission case, it\u2019s CRITICAL to change the fluid every 50-60k. There\u2019s no such thing as a \u201cpermanent\u201d fluid :( \r\n\r\nTelltale sign of problems is that the drivetrain will \u201cwhine\u201d when below 20f.\r\n\r\nYour alternator will die at 125k. Your fuel injectors and coils will need to be changed at 150-170k. You might need calipers, but they are Ford, so they are cheap. Actually, lots of the running gear is Ford cheap. \r\n\r\nThe V6 Duratec is just marvelous. I wish it had more HP, but once you get going you can get into a LOT of trouble in this car.
