Unfortunately Karen passed away unexpectedly in January of 2020 and Louis realizes that while the car holds incredible memories those memories are too painful. For the car guy/gal in all of us I hope the fact that we found Louis a manual transmission 240SX that is now his SUNDAY tooling around car enough to make you smile. ;-)\r\n This car rides great with some oil leaks as described above, he states half a quart twice a year. We believe the car to be mostly original, including the GM glass all around stamped as such. While the interior is not perfect it is very nice and surely almost all original. What a great car that was. It transported me and my folks from CA to New Brunswick, and home again on a big family vacation in 1962. The Buick saved my mom's life, as it was such a substantial car that it didn't completely fold up in a near-head-on accident. A drunk was passing multiple cars on a 2-lane road, and ended up colliding with three oncoming cars. My mom in the Buick was the second car to get smashed by the drunk in his Mercury sedan. The Buick was totaled, but my mom only had minor injuries, and was home again after the doctor examined her. ShineOn The Riviera was the nomenclature indicating it was a 4 door 'no post' car, as opposed to a sedan. There were 4 trim levels available on this car; Special, Century, Super(this one), and a Roadmaster. The first 2 had the 250 HP motor, The Special and Road Master had 300HP. I also believe the Super and Road Master share a 127.5\" wheels base while the Special and Century made do with a wheelbase of 'ONLY' 122\"! And i found mention that this car is 7\" inches wider than the Special/Century. Some noted points : \n\nThe torque tube has a slight leak which is a simple gasket and is customary after many years. Nailhead engines offers factory engine/crank balanced smooth 450 rpm idle and huge pulling performance with little to no noted oil usage. 300 hp and approx. 405 ft lbs of torque @ a low rpm of around 3000 exceeds even some modern Dodge truck diesel's output. The crankcase and especially the heads are of a very high content metallurgy that is forged hardened so it is not necessary to machine insert \"hardened\" seats to accommodate grain-o-hol-fuels like what is needed in a Chevy, Ford of the day and if done can actually destroy the heads into the water jacket. We note the glove compartment has the rare factory accessory compartment offered rim lip to keep contents secure and in place and the dash is all original and well presented. We see nothing about this Buick Super 57 that should give any one concern and have owned over five 57's over time and all very dependable and well built. Seller could center the rubber flap in the proper position over the distributor as was the factory's intent to keep residual water from dripping onto distributor. Just slide the clips over and insert the rubber flap. Buick doors of this era shut like bank vault doors. Tight n right as they use to say and that boulevard ride, smooth cloud like. No knee and elbow shaking torsion bar suspension here.
