Both my mechanic and auto body shop owner inspected it and did not alert me to any such issues. As far as steering components, I have no knowledge of replacement components. The vehicle tracks straight, and turns smoothly with tight steering (no play). The door hinges and bottoms of doors are covered with metal trim and I would not be comfortable removing them to take pictures. I will post pictures of floorboards on Wednesday. It was inaccurate, reading 20F too high even though it was a mechanical gauge, and difficult to see when driving. \r\n\r\nIt was assumed by the previous owner that the original cluster gauge didn't work, or that the sending unit was unavailable. I contacted Caerbont, the manufacturer of Smiths gauges, and after sending a picture of the backside of my gauge, sent me a part number, which I purchased on UK Ebay for about $12, shipped to me here in the US. Arrived in 4 days. I checked the gauge for function and it turned out to be a functioning gauge. I attached the sending unit and checked it in 185F water, where it centered perfectly. An accurate gauge. I got rid of that junk, ugly accessory gauge and have had accurate gauge reading since from the original cluster. \r\nI did learn that the temp gauge could be adjusted for calibration with a small screw driver by moving the movement slightly to properly center the needle in the \"N\" box. Now, the N indication is from 185~200F, which I occasionally see on a very hot So Cal day. \r\nWhen it comes to this little gauge in the cluster, it is often misunderstood. If you want to see if it is functioning, ground the sensor wire. The gauge should move slowly to the max temp position. If it does that, you have a gauge that will respond to the correct sending unit. If a compatible sender is not available the gauge may be recalibrated for an available sending unit. That said, first contact Caerbont for a suggestion as to a sending unit part number, and do a search on that. My early Plus 8 has the same box and it is just fine when adjusted up properly and the tie rod ends are in good shape.
