We loved that truck, not only could it do it's job, but it was also a great road-trip vehicle. Extremely comfortable inside. Unfortunately mine was backed by an auto, which simply could not hold up to the mighty 12V. Even from the factory auto-equipped trucks had a different fuel cam to detune them so the auto would survive. I ended up sinking about $6K into my trans and it lasted maybe another 8 months. I still would have kept it, probably looked for a wrecked 5-speed truck to swap it over, but I ended up getting a free Powerstroke so it didn't make sense to keep the Cummins around. It's a NO RESERVE so the market will speak as to what they think it is worth, should be interesting...\r\n\r\nPeople are oftentimes shocked to hear that I have a passion for makes other than Porsche, while it is true that Porsche is my first love I do have a strong affinity for all sorts of vehicles. One of the things I prize is quality engineering, as such I have long been a fan of the Cummins TurboDiesel, especially the early 5.9 liter 12-valve (pre 1998.5) and the early common rail 2003-2004 trucks. They make so much torque at idle that they want to spin the tires on light gravel as soon as you release the brakes! They also have an engine note that is industrial, crude, yet somehow just sounds so \"right\". In the same way that I LOVE the \"Ping\" that an air-cooled 911 door makes when closed, I love that when you shut these off the sheer torque does this last heavy shake that just courses thru the truck, it never gets old to me! Put a trailer behind one of these and they just LAUGH, as if to say Puh-lease.... you think this is a load? Then they manage to do it while still getting remarkable fuel mileage... The challenge of course is now these are 20 year old TRUCKS (that frankly had suspect build quality on everything but the motor!) so trying to find a nice one that hasn't been modified is harder than finding a 930 that didn't have a K27 swap! This truck is just your classic grandpa truck that looks 3 years old, not 23!\r\n\r\nI am happy to answer any questions or show the truck to anyone local. @henryr the truck has a 8,800lb GVWR, 16,000lb GCWR, 2,320lb payload and a tow rating of 9,300lb. I own a 12 valve 4x4 '91 manual (stretched crew) a12 valve 4x4 '91 Auto (stretched club) a '93 12 valve 2wd stacks stretched crew auto pushing 500 h/p a 12 valve 98 4x4 auto (holy grail) and some common rail stuff. \r\nYou all do what you want but the A518 automatic trans that is a 727 with a overdrive on the back...that later became known as the 46RH then 47RE then 48RE last used in 2006 cummins is a GOOD TRANS. In essence the 2006 was designed for 800 foot pounds of torque.\r\n\r\nThe manual Getrag suffers from the counter shaft bearing....and the NV4500 the nut would fall off the shaft.....fortunately both these manual trans are easy to rebuild. Good thing as it gets rebuildt often.\r\n\r\nThe newer common rail cummins suffer from injector problems and this can lead to complete engine failure via melting the cylinder when the injector blows the nozzle...thus the reason the older trucks are worth a bunch. That disappeared with the second gen in \u201894. These Rams were a game changer for Chrysler in the US truck market. The first generation (1981-1993) were essentially carry over models from the 1970's and never very popular. The next generation like the one for sale here was dubbed the \"Louisville Slugger\" by Chrysler's Advanced Packaging Studio and became a really good seller. I always saw them as a scaled down version of the \"big rigs\" we see all over our nations highways. I had a buddy who bought a '96 \"Sport\" model new with a short bed, black, 4X4 with the 360 and I drove it a lot helping him part time doing landscaping jobs on my off days at the dealership. He still has that truck today! It\u2019s been off road in fields, mud pits and such. She frequently pulled two grain wagons at a time that together weighed close to 40,000lbs. Her only modification was a DMI bumper with an implement tongue. Oh, and she was once parked on the side of a farm road while my dad was helping someone with car issues. Along came a drunk driver who then plowed into the rear end. They straightened the frame, put another DMI on, filled the crease in the back of the cab that was created when the bed was shoved into it, slapped her on the rear and sent her on her way back to the farm. \r\n\r\nThis truck has been a staple on our farm for the past 25 years and is a beast. Zero work to the engine ever. The transmission has gone out once or twice though. The owner has just refueled based on the trip odometer mileage but quick research shows me that its probably the sending unit.
