There\u2019s seriously enough room under the hood for just about anything; at one time you could by a Ramcharger SUV with a 440. But personally, having had plenty of Hot Rods, I like the way this is, as is. It\u2019s really what I call a \u201cOld Mans Truck\u201d, it just works and cruises along. Yes, you can do 75 MPH with it but really, 60-65 is just fine in the right lane of the freeway or 40 MPH in town. 65 MPH is about 2800 RPM with the factory 3.54 gears (steepest available when new) and while everybody wants an OD transmission, there was a time when that just didn\u2019t exist from the factory and somehow they still survived! \n@Irish_Mike - Yes, 2WD are rare for a Ramcharger and I find that more than you would believe, people like them. Doesn\u2019t have to be a 4x4 (and as you probably know, they have been used and abused for the last 30+ years). Some like to lower these 2WD models and it seems common to replace the lower control arms with those from a Dodge Van to lower the front followed by your typical methods of rear spring lowering in the rear. The 2WD offers a very smooth ride. And I prefer it that way.
