Nice wood restoration, as anyone knows about these cars the factory wood finish did not take well to uv and commonly cracked and crumbled. I had a '64 300SE Coupe rare 5speed manual gray with rust-red interior and a '66 4 spd manual silver/black years ago, . Problems I encountered, apart from wood restoration were a somewhat harsher ride than expected due to bad subframe bushings on one, and cracking of the rubber on the airbags, which plagues the rubber on these. It looks like there might be some cracking on these too. The cars are very nice to drive, and the sunroof is a pleasure, one of the nicest I've enjoyed. The engine is very nice, strong and good sound. Nice to have the euro headlights. The body can suffer body rust, and can leak around the front and rear glass seals. This one looks pretty good on those counts. Rear main crank seal is a rope seal, which can leak if allowed to dry out (been there done that). The 220SE and early 300SE had the centre caps with the slotted trim rings which covered the entire wheel - these were on 13inch wheels. With the advent of the 250SE it, and the 300SE, went to 14inch wheels with the centre cap and solid trim rings which revealed a portion of the (body coloured, or roof coloured on two-tone cars) wheel. Late serial number 250SEs sport the full cap which appears on the 280SE high grille. I think the cap on the low grille model is a slightly flatter variant of the full cap. Most all times you never see them there.\nThe back sides of the rims are grey see picture 95, 174. I believe this to be correct so much so that I had the rims powdercoated like so on my 1963 220seb coupe.\nAs you look at under the hood pictures you see evidence that alot of time and thought was expended to get details right.\nThe exhaust I believe is correct in terms of being \"single\" outlet like a 220seb. The single outlet would then exit out an oval fan finisher similar to a 300SL Roadster. Please correct me if I am wrong.\nI did not know that early 300se used the same 13 inch 220seb rim and hubcap arrangement.\nI kept the original 13 inch rims on my 220seb.\nI love the color combination.
