This bike is a legit, first-year YSR because it has a sold front brake rotor only offered in 1986 before being produced for the rest of the world with a cross-drilled front rotor in 1987. The 1986 JDM YSR also had a small, almost imperceptible tank pad, while the 1987-and-up YSRs produced for the rest of the world had a much more robust tank pad. The subframe on the JDM YSR was also different, and it held a taillight unit and rear turn signals that were integrated into the tail section of the bike. Non-JDM YSRs from 1987 and up had a much more bulky taillight and turn signals that stuck out from underneath the tail section. The Tadahiko Taira-replica TECH 21 livery was an exclusive secondary color offering on the 1986 JDM YSR only.
