Remember, it was not unusual to find stand-alone GMC dealerships, long before latte-toting mommies drove GMCs to yoga class. \n\nAnd those GMC dealers were truly commercial truck sellers. You'd see tons of utility beds, stake beds, box trucks, or just cab-and-chassis waiting for custom upfits. And rows of pickups and vans. A stripped down Suburban or two, and then maybe a no-frills Jimmy (aka Blazer). And all mostly in stark white. \n\nThe Cabelleros in stock were usually white as well, and mostly devoid of options. When this generation Malibu/El Camino came out in 1978, there were two different instrument clusters. The base version had the rectangular speedo and just a fuel gauge. The two optional instrument clusters (with and without tach) got you the round speedo and smaller round dials for fuel, temp, etc. \r\n\r\nAround 1982 or so, they decided to just have one design with the round speedo and leave blanks with warning lights in them. I have owned the Caballero for 3 months, not 2 years. However, the previous owner had it for 2 years locally here in Pittsburgh. Never drove it, kept it in his garage till I acquired it. But I was driving it on every non rainy day till it was listed on here. Didn't want anything to happen to it while the auction was going on.\r\n5) I will add the pic. Not sure where it went, but I know I had uploaded it. The gas used in HVAC systems is called refrigerant. \r\n\r\nHope this Caballero really takes off on this last day.
