These are the top of the line cloth material that was available on the Silverado. If you look at many General Motors trucks of this era Pickups, Suburbans etc usually the drivers seat is shot , this truck has been garaged every night for 24 years but it did go outside and the front bench is faded. Let me also say having owned many 4 wheel drive vehicles over the last 40 plus years and living at 7000 feet above sea level and when it snows like it has the last few years with 56 feet in 2023 you get to a point where you don\u2019t care what the BF Goodrich AllTerrains tires cost the KO2s being the newest they are the best tire period for this type of vehicle in my opinion. Let me put a finer point on this particular truck that is not as clear as I would like. This truck was owned by a wealthy Northern Nevada rancher and his family, picture Ben Cartwright (if he was around) in 1990 buying a loaded up Silverado. Every box was checked on the order form as you can see by the original factory invoice,everything it was ordered with is still on the car and functioning properly, the owner was meticulous when it came to his truck and this one was kept in the good barn that is why the 24 year old General Motor two tone paint is in unbelievable original condition, look at all the shiny trucks for sale and realize they didn\u2019t always look like that how ever this truck has the same paint it left the factory with that is unusual, if something wasn\u2019t right mechanically it was addressed immediately by a very reputable shop in Sparks Nevada. The best story I was told was the upper radiator hose blew, it did not over heat or cause damage to the engine, it needed a new hose per the shop the truck was towed to but the late owner felt that if that failed it was a matter of time something else would go wrong so he had the engine replaced with a brand new (not rebuilt) crate motor from General Motors, the shop said the original 454 was fine and that was a waste of money. He didn\u2019t care he had them install a brand new factory 454 and that job was done on 10/04/02 with 136751 miles so in the last 22 years this truck and new 454 have driven just 66,649 miles or an average of 3k miles a year in the last 22 years. I have been driving the truck regularly and am amazed how tight it is, I have owned many trucks of this vintage over the years from Suburbans to Tahoes and every version of the pickups in every year. What is surprising to me is how tight and free of rattles this 1 ton is, the truck shifted great in every gear and after driving it I noticed when pulling out of my up hill driveway I noticed not a slip but more like a shutter once in a while only in reverse, the next time it was fine then I noticed it a few days later, I spoke with a shop that builds transmissions and he said the transmission shifts good but if the reverse is starting to shutter it won\u2019t continue to get better so I made the expensive decision to have pull the original TH400 and rebuild it as new which will be done finished before this auction ends. I haven't even paid the bill yet for the transmission and at this point I'm pretty deep in a hole so unfortunately my loss is your gain. There was many family stories about Grand PAs truck which was his baby. The engine was replaced with a NEW 454 factory crate motor because the owner while driving down HW50 and smelled coolant and pulled over and saw the upper radiator hose was beginning to leak. He had it towed to Sparks Nevada and instructed his mechanic which worked on all his equipment to replace the engine with a brand new one. The mechanic had said it just needs a new hose, the original engine didn't overheat? he said I don't care I want a new engine and that is what he got, that was in 2002 22 years ago and, in that time frame this truck has travelled just 67k miles or an average of 3k per year. It wasn't until I posted it on Bring a trailer that I noticed the transmission issue, this transmission was all original and still operating well except for a shutter some times while backing up a hill. I made decision to have it rebuilt about a week ago, it should be done today and I will pay for it, that is the check I was referring to. I am trying to be as transparent as possible, I was not planning to put a new transmission in it but I felt since the quality of this truck is so good it should ad value and be perfect for the next owner. I have tried to go to great lengths and show starting with the hood it is like it was in 1990 as is the drivers fender and optional factory flare and the original bumper and grill , the drivers door I would describe also as as close to perfect with no visible imperfections including the 3500 moulding which is free from imperfections where both colors shine as new and the original pinstripe is like new, a few inches from the drivers side door where the cab is extended there is a dime size door ding other than that the colors of the two tone paint shine bright with not imperfections, looking at the drivers side bed and matching Gem Top shell no imperfections even the inside of the gas cap door paint looks new also the factor 4x4 decal is clean and bright, the rear of the vehicle shows a perfect bumper with no visible imperfections, one of the barn doors has a small ding other wise is perfect as is the inside of the bed which has ben covered for 34 years and never seen any visible work that would show a dented up bed like very other used truck on the road, this one is very, looking over at the passenger side starting with the passenger front fender, the original paint is clean and shinny as it was in 1990 with no dings or dents and a perfect factory flare and moving to the passenger door also as close to new as you will find in a 34 year old vehicle. Both color looks excellent as they were new, the extra cap part of the body is free of any dings or dents and the colors match perfect as do the moldings and pinstripes. Moving to the passenger side bed there are two small door dings just under the pinstripe and one scratch and small ding just under the tail light, the roof of the shell and the cab are free of any visible imperfections. Yes everything operates correctly, I haven't tried the cassette player but all the gauges, air conditioning and all the power windows and power locks operate correctly, The gauges all operate properly . Again this truck has never had a Lien on it and I have a valid clean Nevada title, this truck has never had paint work or any structural damage ever, all the seems line up as new. It's damn near perfect for a 34 year old survivor. Let me say one more thing as a person who makes his living finding rare vehicles here on the West Coast of the United States where rust free vehicles are common and very popular for people on the east coast as well as mid west where salt and rust have been an issue since Henry Ford was around. We do a lot of business with buyers in Europe, Germans, Swedish, Dutch and many more love rust free West Coast vehicles. I don't deal in rusty vehicles period because I don't have to, however most vehicles especially 4wd trucks that are 10, 20, 30 years old don't look like this and that is why so many (including mine) have been repainted, not because they are rusty but because the paint doesn't last for ever and frankly they are worth a lot more money with good paint, finding a 34 year old vehicle anywhere with not just original paint but nice original paint is unusual, thinking back to 1990 there were many terrible cars that are long since been scraped but even if someone had a 1990 Yugo or a 1990 Daewoo in this original condition people would stop and look twice at it because Pride of ownership is not what it once was. The reality is I am always looking for the little old lady car the problem is most of those were junk and disappeared with Obamas Cash for Clunkers, the other fact is and you can take it for what it is worth most of these fancy restored 4x4 trucks you see have been repainted, panels have been replaced with LMC or Brothers or a host of \"Aftermarket\" internet venders selling bumpers, trim, emblems ,mouldings, hoods, fenders, etc, etc all made in China or Taiwan. As every year goes by it is getting more an more difficult to get OEM vehicles .
