Kudos on photographing the Data Rating Plate (photo 15).\r\n\r\nNow for the question: What\u2019s a nice Big Block (383 - 2 Barrel), 4-Speed (New Process 435) truck with a 4.10 heated Dana 60 rear axle doing with a 318 small block, 727 Automatic and small block, non-A/C radiator in it. Although it\u2019s well suited to tow all but the heaviest GCWR loads and is only 22 brake horsepower down on the 383\u2019s 199 horse power rating, most drivers would do better towing with the \u201cslush box,\u201d than with a stick.\r\n\r\nI LOVE the optional gauge package from the Custom Sport Special Sweptline. They were needed in Camper Special trucks (usually D-200s). The CSS was discontinued in 1968 and replaced with \u201cThe Dude\u201d package.\r\n\r\nSweptline Trivia: Only the Sweptline CSS-HP, equipped with the 426 Street Wedge engine was factory equipped with a 4-Barrel carburetor. The only V-8 Premium truck engine (forged steel crankshaft, dual roller timing chain and positive rotators on exhaust valves) available was the 318-3. This was fairly common in many states, where a new vehicle sold like this one may have been; a car/truck from the new model year sold in the \"old\" calendar year. After 1968, though, this became history, as the Federal safety standards kicked in, and the vehicle had to be sold as the model year, period.\n\nIn the auction description, it mentions a column-shift automatic. I see very clearly the dash shifter, which was in that location for ALL 1965 - 1968 D/W Dodge/Fargo trucks, along with all A100/108 vans and pickups.
