I own a 1968 R69US also, 664316. I bought it in 1979. When I contacted BMW they were able to tell me only that it left the factory painted Avus Black and was delivered to Butler and Smith in New York on November 30 1967. Often they can provide the date of manufacture too. This one is 103 numbers lower so made shortly before mine. Did anyone try contacting BMW for that info on this one? Not essential but interesting to know. I redid mine in Granada Red in 2013. By the way, I believe records show that BMW produced 1004 R69US motorcycles from mid 1967 to mid 1969. So these are fairly rare. Someone is going to be a very happy new owner and rider. I expect that whenever out riding this bike people will notice and comment. Happens every time I ride mine.
