It's more of a metallic rattle between 1600-2000rpm. \nThese do not have a light stalk for high beams, it is a floor switch. \nThe brakes have been bled, but since there is no fluid being lost (to my knowledge), it may just be an air bubble. If you do stomp on the brakes, the car will stop quickly, but a double pump will definitely give more positive pedal pressure.\nThe idle will settle down to just under 1,000 rpm. With a little help, it'll sit around 750. \nThe radiator/cooling system has been flushed, but the radiator was not replaced. It hasn't overheated on me, it just runs a little warm some times. I've put 3 x 100+ mile trips on the car, and driven several times to work with no issues (16 miles each way) in minor stop and go traffic.\nThe transmission was not addressed, nor was the clutch, because the car was taken off the road due to a bad valve. The gentleman I bought the car from never indicated the clutch being an issue. Based on his word and the appearance of the fluid that was removed, I didn't see the need to pull the trans. It pivots on a stud at one end, with the other (free) end riding on the inner wall of the timing cover while the curve of the tensioner presses against the timing chain. The springiness of the curved tensioner applies pressure to the timing chain to keep the chain (more-or-less) taut.\nI once had a TR3 where the tensioner finally wore a hole in the timing cover, where the tensioner\u2019s free end was constantly sliding against the cover. Lots of oil drip on the floor after that!\n\nThe tensioner might be weak, or somehow not quite up to snuff.
