Perfect, Perfect car for The Colorado Grand, The Copperstate, Vintage Rallies. \r\n\r\nI recently did the Colorado Grand in an original XK-120, it was wonderful, but then I got to drive a modified XK-120 that I had sold a friend about a year earlier. This XK-120 had several mods which made it night and day better for use and enjoyment, especially in the high altitude. That said, the modified 120 was cool, but still uncomfortable in comparison to the 150S, that I wished I was driving. The 150S does everything right within the XK120, 140, 150 series of Jags. \r\n\r\nI am spoiled, love my day job and am lucky enjoy to have several cars in my personal garage and business inventory. Two upgrades that I made to the car is the 5 speed transmission and electric power steering. It retains the original engine (by number) and retains its original appearance in every way. Compared to my over restored XK 120 roadster it is a pleasure to drive. Four wheel disc brakes, 5 speed modern transmission and precise power steering. I would recommend these upgrades to make the cars more driveable without detracting from the classic appearance. In addition, at 5'10\" there was NO legroom in the 120 as long as the car was. The 150 is the pick of the litter of the 120,140, 150. Maybe I am crazy to have two of these cars in addition to my Series 1 XKE. However, the extremely high value commanded by an authentic S may have been dlluted somewhat by swapping in a 3.8 liter engine, a modern transmission, etc. If you are shopping for an \"S\" as an investment, you would probably favor an unmodified, numbers matching example. About the five speed gearbox update: to me, it partly defeats the purpose of owning an old car. To each his own, of course, but if I have a \u201858 Jaguar, I want it to feel, not only look, like a \u201858 Jaguar. In my opinion, the Moss box is a significant part of the challenge and enjoyment of driving a car like this. I owned an XK 140MC and a Morgan Plus 8 with the Moss box. Those cars both had gearboxes that were in good condition, which makes all the difference with a Moss. I love the gear whine \u2013 it\u2019s part of the experience, and to lose that would be to lose part of the experience. I loved the precise, mechanical feel of the Moss, and the satisfaction of mastering double-clutching into the non-synchro 1st gear. With overdrive, you have the benefit of a \u201c5th\u201d gear. Don\u2019t get me wrong, this car would be a wonderful experience as currently set up.
