As previously cited the ratio is very quick and the result of a sneeze can elicit exciting maneuvers. Also true that alignment and slop of any kind adds to the drama. I have a Datsun 210 steering box in mine with a bit slower ratio and much closer tolerances or perhaps better design. The other common steering box used is the VW unit though it is very slow with I have been told four turns lock to lock. If you want the original box there is the Tompkins Kit for the innards that a number use.\r\nI have a tendency to \"personalize\" most of the cars I have owned. Usually that has had something to do with performance Occasionally however I haven't been able to resist a tweek here and there. The frame is very flexible and some racers welded steel plates on the inside of the frame or put long steel rods in an X under the frame. The TD box frame is a monster compared to the TC and most inflexible compared to the TC. \r\n I also have have a street TC with a Tompkins kit. if you do everything mentioned below the car does not wander/change lanes and is quite drivable with 19 in wheels/tires.
