I am a long time Audi fan and ~30 yr member of ACNA which used to be the \u201cQuattro Club\u201d and have owned multiple examples of almost every iteration of Audi\u2019s I5 until being well priced out of the current version models.\n\nA few years back I was looking to acquire an inexpensive reliable fun car that my early teen daughter and I could fly out for and road trip back, then work on it together. Indeed she learned to drive a stick on this car.\nI stumbled across this example in Florida. It was purchased by an American expat Audi fan and his Italian wife while they were living in Switzerland. I have that paperwork.\nHe had a ton of resto work done at an Audi resto shop in Switzerland for which I also have the receipts. I corresponded with the fellow there who did most of the work and he said the owner was fastidious fixing \u201cevery little thing\u201d. This comports with my findings. Very soon after the fellow was transferred to the US, Florida specifically. In anticipation of this he had the windows tinted in Europe.\n\nAfter arriving stateside, experiencing Florida heat, and spending many more dollars here and gathering all of the bits to add factory A/C to the car, he could not find a shop willing to both install it and guarantee it would keep Florida heat at bay.\n\nAdmitting a bit of a defeat, he bought a Q7 and put the 90 up for sale and I bought it to continue the stewardship. I\u2019ve driven it from FL to ME, from ME to Carlisle, and ME to Audi Nationals last year. It is dead nuts reliable.\n\nI have 3 ROW VAG examples and this one has the Swiss spec HY engine (with some records from day one!) that carries a ~15-20% HP bump over US models. Without A/C, Sunroof, PW, added impact bracing etc, the weight savings over a US model is also substantial. Add in Koni SA\u2019s and H&R sports and the car is really fun to drive. Where it not for losing my friendly storage spaces, this car would stay with my remaining quattro for a long time but somethings have to go. Hopefully to another fan who carries the torch.
