I have kept mine original, except for a little wider tires on the same \u201cwagon wheel\u201d wheels, although with a documented 54K miles.\r\nSo many people say they love Jeeps and want mine, except they\u2019ve never driven one. This is not a modern vehicle, and since I\u2019ve kept the manual steering, it sure doesn\u2019t drive like one. You really have to \u201cLove Jeeps\u201d and appreciate a CJ for what it is. I Love mine, had it for 33 years. I seriously doubt this Jeep had any significant corrosion on the tub before the diamond plate was applied, based on pictures 61-67. \n\nThere is a serious potential problem with the Aluminum Diamond Plate Panels attached to the Jeep \"tub,\" EVEN IF THERE WAS NO CORROSION on the tub. We'll call it the \"Disco Problem,\" in honor of the Range Rover Discovery II, whose frames often rusted away, even though their Aluminum Bodies showed no signs of corrosion. \n\nRecall your high school Chemistry class and the lesson on Valence Numbers, and you'll remember that Aluminum has a different Valence Number than Iron, the principle ingredient in Steel. Because of these dissimilar metals in contact with each other, a Galvanic Reaction occurs and the (thin) steel sheet metal becomes the sacrificial anode in the reaction, corroding away. https://www.corrosionpedia.com/why-do-two-dissimilar-metals-cause-corrosion/2/6678. The diamond plate is USUALLY a cover up for some serious rust, but I believe this example is relatively rust free.\r\nThe seller could provide a few more pictures..i.e of the floorboards and the small tool compartment recess under the passenger seat to allay the fears that potential buyers have regarding rust.\r\n\r\n Seller, it will well be worth your time and effort to remove driver passenger floor mats, pull back carpet and take a few shots of the floorboard metal from the cabin and from underneath. Few extra minutes of your time could pay of on the final price. If those areas are relatively rust free, I would think the diamond plate was for show and not to cover up rust..\r\n\r\nPretty nice example and the 232/258 is a great torquey engine that is pretty much bullet-proof.
