If the shifting stops working, is it stuck in the low range or the high range... and still usable for continued local driving, or... is one dead in the water and needs a rear end rebuild. As one considering a woodie for some time, and one owning many vintage 30's and 40's cars, one thing I do know... and that is to simply stay away from esoteric anything. It will only eventually become long term problems. If the cars are still usable if the Columbia goes south, that is fine, But if that happens and it is pulling a rear end to send to some 'Columbia Expert' (that is on the other side of the country), then skipping past this and going for a more conventional and reliable rear end car (such as a Ply, or Dodge, or Chevy), that is a key decider for me and perhaps others as well.
