I rarely say this about Dauphines/4cvs on BAT. The engine and gearbox sound just right in the video. You feel like you are really moving at 35 mph in a 4cv! While I like my USA spec 59 4cv better than a 55, this is a good car for someone who cares about having an original restoration of a 4cv. I see no rust or damage on this car (again, not something I often say).\r\n\r\nI also put an alternator in mine. The brakes are all 7\" drums, but the 9\" drums from a Dauphine bolt right on. I was hitch hiking around the country after dropping out of college and got tired of walking. I was advised to leave Denver at night as the car was illegal. Picked up a hitch hiker who had to walk along side going up hill, but it went way faster than was safe going down hill. I bought re-refined oil by the case. I made it to Little America Wyoming and had two flats. The only garage sold tires but had nothing in that size and they asked if they were for a wheel barrow. It was running well enough but ordering tires would take two weeks. I drove it around back to a lot full of abandoned cars, parked it, left the key in it and continued on hitching to California. Ten years later I went by Little America again and asked what happened to all the cars.
