The story I was told\r\n was the owner of the MB dealership in Atlanta had a relative on the \r\n Board of MB and they approved the build of 2 of these trucks...one \r\n 8 cylinder and this 6 cylinder version for USA delivery. Further they\r\n built 2 for middle east and one for Europe\r\n\r\nrodemarz as built this vehicle complies to all US Federal safety standards in\r\n effect in 1999....see B-pillar tag pix that I have uploaded\r\n\r\nronjohnson my mistake: leather interior not MB tex\r\n\r\njanos_z All I can say about the quality is that it is superb...clearly to MB\r\n standards. All the extensions to account for the extra length \r\n were custom made, not spliced. I did not cut the car apart to\r\n examine internals but we did pull off the bed to refinish and Binz \r\n had welded\r\n a cage to the existing frame on which the bed sits. From the C-pillar \r\n forward it is all standard MB E-class wagon. To the best of my \r\n knowledge transmission, cooling and gearing are standard OEM\r\n and completely functional and more than adequate.
