I wanted to take a moment and share a little bit about the vehicle and myself to give you more insight on vehicle.\r\n\r\nI have owned quite a few Toyotas and number of land cruisers including a 40, 60, some 80\u2019s and a 200. I m sure, like many who will look at this ad,I have a \u201cthing\u201d for Toyota\u2019s and a tiny bit of knowledge about them, but not an expert by any stretch. In addition, I am very particular about my vehicles in terms of hand washing , waxing etc. This LX was clay bared and polished appropriately and never driven down dirt roads in my possession!\r\n\r\nI came across this LX last fall as I had just sold my 200 and ordered a new 4 runner and needed an interim vehicle as the 4 runner, TRD PRO AG was delayed.\r\nSome background on the vehicle. It is my understanding that the individual I bought the vehicle from, knew the 3rd owner for 20 years and had insight to the history of the vehicle. Through their business dealings he became aware of the Lexus and that it had been stored all this time. He had been bugging him to purchase the vehicle for quite some time and finally the owner agreed. Btw,my understanding is that the 2nd and 3rd owner are the same people. A divorce resulted in a title change and the husband titled the vehicle in his name. \r\n\r\nWhen I looked at the vehicle and saw that it had 37,000 miles on it I was surprised. Although there wasn\u2019t a lot of paperwork there was a clean Carfax and all five original date coded tires, which I still have. In addition, the overall condition of the car would suggest the low mileage and I outline other reasons below.\r\n\r\nAs I started driving the car, drives like new, I wanted to evaluate what baselining was needed. The first thing was new tires and belts. Brakes were fine. I bought the radiator hoses but did not install and I decided to keep originals on to prove the mileage. It was also around this time I realized how special the vehicle is and stopped driving it , winter was coming, so I stored it in my heated barn thinking about what I wanted to do with it. I certainly did not want to modify it, as the vehicle is in such stock condition which makes the appearance for this LX more attractive IMHO. Also, I did get the 4Runner and bought another 80 I will modify, so something had to go.\r\n\r\nIn terms of the rollover comment in the service records. I did not discover this until a few months after I bought it. Needless to say I was surprised but also scratching my head a bit because the vehicle is in such beautiful condition top to bottom and maintains so much of its original parts.As the description here on BAT suggests the DS rear quarter has been painted but there are many signs that leave me perplexed about a major accident.\r\n\r\n-First, all panels have the vin stickers with the exception of the painted quarter and front drivers fender. I\u2019m not an expert but if other panels were replaced,especially in a major accident wouldn\u2019t these be gone?\r\n- The 5 date coded tires in tact with lots of tread, spare brand new , rim for spare never mounted might suggest not only low mileage but lack of major accident\r\n- The clear bra appears to be original on hood, both fenders and door handles. I pointed this out in pics.\r\n- The running boards, roof rack and spoiler match the age of the vehicle in terms of expected wear so if something was replaced it would show. This includes underneath the RB.\r\n- The floor mats are like new and the leather, especially the drivers seat, are consistent with mileage.\r\n- The original windshield is still in place.\r\n- Clean Carfax\r\n- Paint readings in spec\r\n- As mentioned, most parts in engine compartment, suspension are original, only replaced what was needed for safety and drivability.\r\n- I did have the lower tailgate repainted as damaged it bringing pulling into garage\r\nI\u2019m sure I will think of other items as auction progresses. If all this stuff was fixed right, then no big deal its just body sheet metal but that will come down to price. Can't expect collector level money if its not all original, but you can still expect very good money because low miles and not much rust underneath and that is more important than a little bodywork. However, there are other notes about electricals and airbags needing replacement but little specifics. Hard to say with out PPI. Realize one of the only dumb things about FJ80 is there is huge wiring loom going down the driver's side floor pan at rocker. It just sits under the carpet and thresholds with little protection. Its super dumb also because not only does it get foot pressures being at the thresholds but worse it gets wet! The car has amazing drains and even a shaped floor that channels the water to the side and drains it out of the car. Only trouble is, most owners don't know this,, and they leave their carpets in place, drains are never pulled and gutters never cleaned out (where the wiring sits bathing in water), Does not take a leak....can just be lots of melted snow from a full winter of getting in and out of the car with snow on your soles. Anyways, fortunately I've only seen that on other FJs, mine feet get dried off before I enter mine! As many know here already we have two FJs. The one we use a lot, on the beach , on the ranch, in the woods, etc....has no carpets. They are rolled up in a bag like new in the basement storage for the next owner. These replaced the 60 series leaf spring suspension which while bullet proof only had about 6 inches of travel, the 80s had 13 inches of travel and an absolutely great ride for a solid axle rig. The 100 series that replaced this \"needed\" better ride so it go an independent front suspension. Big Improvement? Not likely. I have several friends who destroyed the front ends in their 100s by plowing through snow drifts, something that would have never even phased a 60 or 80. IF you want a mall prowler the 100s are fine but if you actually want to wheel your SUV the 80 series (or its fancy trim brother the LX450) is the best rig Toyota (for that matter the whole world) ever built! I own 3 of them, one in this color. The body and drivetrain on these is becoming the most valuable - electrical and mechanical are relatively easy to sort. Hard to say how much of this one has been painted and smoothed over - some of the hinges look to have been removed/installed, and rear hatch struts have been removed/installed. But its so sharp. Very hard to find this sharp. Definitely an odd history with Lexus service, but I believe these RS3000 alarm/keyless systems were installed at the port upon arrival into the US - maybe a simple poor installation that was corrected. Lastly, the driver-side, rear door entry step plate is missing a brown push plug. Appreciate the questions. \r\nIn terms of the electrical, I just want to reiterate and add a few more comments. As mentioned, Everything works, including the power antenna , seats, etc. even the factory 6 cd changer works like new. As mentioned in an earlier post, the very archaic alarm system works perfectly. Anyone who knows a little bit about these vehicles knows how annoying they can actually be. I demonstrated it in my walk around video. The cool thing I didn\u2019t mention was that if you walk away w/o locking the vehicle it will set automatically.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the Vehicle has had zero aftermarket mods in terms of lights, sound system etc.. As a result, the wiring hasn\u2019t been altered as far as I can tell. Having bought vehicles in the past, where weekend warriors have modded vehicles incorrectly, created a nightmare to fix, ask me how I know!\r\n\r\nAs far as how it was stored. My understanding is that it was inside the 3rd owners warehouse. Based on the condition of paint, interior etc. that makes sense. All fluids were changed/flushed in oct 19 w exception of engine oil which has been changed twice under my ownership.\r\n\r\nThe next baseline items would be coolant hoses. While none of them leak it would be prudent given their originality. As mentioned I left them on for authenticity but will include OEM radiator hoses with sale. I did install the scan gauge so I can monitor temp. Vehicle runs between 185-190. \r\nFan blade/clutch perform as designed.\r\n\r\nFront brakes were replaced at 22k.\r\nRear brakes and tune up were done at 33k, so good there. Btw vehicle stops straight with no pulling.\r\n\r\nTires 6k mike ago. Michelin\u2019s LTX 275/70/16, lots of miles left!\r\n\r\nWheel alignment at 39k spec sheet included in sale.\r\n\r\nAll the rubber door seals including sun roof, are in excellent condition, as mentioned, no leaks. Sunroof drains perfectly.\r\n\r\nI believe I failed to mentioned that I replaced the ac and alternator belts with OEM. AC blows cold!
