I had visions of a notch back with a stoker LA engine. Never did find one that quite tripped my trigger.\r\nThis one could potentially be a very good buy. Some of the mods are a bit quirky. I\u2019d rip off that wing and pop in some body plugs. I\u2019d probably have to lose the color-keyed dash bits too, and do a more complete color change to the interior. I definitely applaud the choice to switch to white though.\r\nGenerally not a fan of Rallyes on pre-70 Mopars, but they look okay in this application. Not a lot of other options with the small bolt pattern.\r\nIf anyone thinks that a disc brake retro-fit is in order, just know that it would be an exercise in scope creep. Any aftermarket kits will be large bolt pattern, which means new front wheels. And then you\u2019ll probably want to change the rears to match. But that really opens up your wheel options.\r\nThe 318-2V will move this car along quite adequately. Plenty of punch. No mention of what axle this has, but that would probably be the weak link if this doesn\u2019t have an 8 \u00be. Just make sure you understand what the L means that is stamped on the ends of the left side wheel lugs. Mother Mopar did not make many of these, rarer still are the 340 and 383 powered ones. I had a 69 318 ragtop and loved every minute of driving it. These are reliable, easy to work on, happily piloted by lesser experienced drivers (like your kids for example) and if you need parts, tons of good vendors out there with reproduction pieces that are fairly priced. \r\n\r\nThis is a solid example with attractive colors and what looks like sound mechanical details. It has correct heat shrouds on the motor (often discarded even by good builders), the right air cleaner, and generally correct Mopar finishes under the hood. \r\n\r\nThe interior is nicely done with white and black with the matching car color on the lower dash and console an OK custom touch. They are two part stamped steel that were factory exhaust manifold gaskets AND had a tack welded spark plug shroud that kept heat from rising to the ignition wires or cooking the plugs. Driver's side manifold was shaped taller so it could clear the steering column and box.\n\nThese were left and right pieces (driver's side shielded) that were painted when the motor was assembled and the paint would bake off, the raw metal would rust and often when exhaust was rebuilt or replaced, those rare parts got tossed and an aftermarket gasket without the shroud was installed. This is the same for 318 and 340 engines. \n\nFor a while no one made these so they were impossibly hard to find and harder still to bend back to factory shape or restore if really rusty. Some aftermarket performance companies now make these but just one shrouded piece can be over $200. \n\nBut that's not the main reason to get excited when you see these. What these generally can mean is that the restorer/owner or combination of both were thoughtful enough in their restoration to do it properly by getting the right parts OR the parts survived, which is a generally sound indicator that this was a good original car when it was restored. \n\nI always look for these and some other Mopar specific parts to determine a good car, especially on A-Body cars which tend to get less love over the E or B body variants.
