No power windows, wood that can fade, etc.\u2026 Just twist and pull and you can open the sunroof. \r\n\r\nThis is one of the most indestructible 300D\u2019s out there, and many of these are still tooling around Africa, South America and parts of Eastern Europe as taxis with 1,000,000 miles plus. So this was not even really broken in yet folks.\ud83d\ude09\r\n\r\nThe upgrades on the headlights are certainly appreciated, as the original lighting on these was acceptable, but not great by today\u2019s standards\u2026 Love to see a picture, showing it in the dark with those lights on\u2026sure it\u2019s pretty impressive. And the replacement taillights are no big deal, as they really don\u2019t affect anything on the way the vehicle looks.\r\n\r\n I do like the steel wheels with the hubcaps\u2026 I\u2019m converting my 1980 CD to the same configuration, because they\u2019re just easier to maintain - and I think give it that true Mercedes classic look. This is my first time to BaT. I was 12 year old when my dad bought a 200D back in Romania in 1996. I felt in love with these W123's since then. Weeks after we came to America, my dad bought another W123. We always had a car like this in our family. \r\nIt was a hard decision for me to sell this beauty, but I will keep my other 300D with manual transmission. \r\nAbout this car, I purchased it on October of 2021 from the original owners of 39 years in Seattle, Washington. The car presents itself very well, it was always garaged and maintained at regular intervals at Mercedes specialized facilities. Maintenance records are present and can prove the statement. Absolutely no accidents and no rust. The Sun Yellow 680 is the original paint that shows very little imperfections. The interior is complete and preserved in excellent shape with signs of very careful use and care. The dashboard has two small cracks, one behind the gauge cluster and the other by the usual spot at the right speaker corner. The seats are very supportive with no sagging or tears. The interior smells like a quality leather glove, we all know the unmistakable and the unforgettable 80s Mercedes scent. Every month the interior is treated with 303 or Vinylex and the MB Tex with Lexol or Griots Garage leather treatment. To protect the factory carpets I have fitted the interior with high quality Sisal floor mats manufactured and shipped directly from Germany. All the gauges, lights, horn,and other accessories work as they should. The clock keeps accurate time. The A/C is very cold keeping a very comfortable cabin temperature even in the middle of the summer when the ambient temperature reaches mid to upper 90s. Mechanically the car is in top shape to the point where I feel very confident to take a coast to coast trip if needed. After I brought the car home I started going through it from front to end to ensure its reliability and comfort. All the fluids were changed along with necessary filters. New four tires were installed, but kept the original spare tire just for the nostalgia. Vacuum system works perfect after replacing all the rubber connectors under the hood and door actuators. It keeps vacuum for days without any problems. I can lock- unlock the doors 8-9 full cycle before the vacuum reservoir gets depleted which I believe this is how it should operate. The cooling system was flushed 8 times with distilled water to get rid of the green coolant then replaced with fresh Zerex G48 antifreeze and a new thermostat and gasket. Power steering, brake system, transmission and differential all received fresh correct fluids. New exhaust was installed including the resonator and the muffler. New shifter rod bushings, rear sway bar links, a/c compresor, euro headlights with led bulbs including yellow fogs plus white led license plate bulbs. A diesel purge and valve adjustment was performed soon after I purchased the car. All the work that I have done is documented in a separate board journal. The tool kit is complete and contains all the appropriate tools, an emergency road triangle rests in the trunk in its designated spot, the original medical kit is intact in its place behind the back seat and is not cracked by the sun's UVs. The original radio cassette is in working order along with a new antenna. The manual sunroof is a big plus also manual windows and climate controls that prove to be very reliable compared to the electric/electronic ones found on the US version of these cars. Two original keys are present and all the literature that came with the car when new, also a very nice and rare dealer sales brochure from 1982. \r\nThe car just received an oil change with Rotella T4 15w40 oil and a Mann oil filter. A new Mercedes genuine battery was installed recently. Ever since I got the car I have treated the diesel fuel with Hot Shot's additives, this 300D runs and drives superb. Don't be worried about the engine not having the turbo, I can attest this 300D can move and keep its own in today's traffic. Being the euro model and not having the egr also different tune of the injection pump the car performs very well to the point where I don't see or feel any major difference between this or a US turbo model.
