I panicked without checking it out thoroughly and straightaway oredered a complete wiring harness from Melvin Rutter in England. My mechanic looked at it, figured out that it was only chafing that caused the insulation failure and promply repaired it. Works great. Did that with moderate success. I have only driven the carless than 100 miles since then and have not had hot enough weather to have it over heat.. So i think it is an airlock since all the major components are new.\r\nBTW during that time I also had the clutch and pressure plate rebuilt/replaced, flywheel machined, new throwout bearing and new pilot bushing. Jacking up the front of the car to fill the system is one way, but the best is to fill the cooling system using an \"Airlift\" cooling system tester and fill unit. This is a compressor driven vacuum device that puts a depression on the empty cooling system for leak testing. If the system holds vacuum (it can be dramatic with all the hoses collapsed) with the compressor off, then a hose is dropped into a bucket of coolant and the valve to the cooling system is opened, allowing the vacuum to fill the cooling system without voids. A complete fill is the result. I use this on my +8, and have no problems with overheating, and always get a properly filled cooling system. \r\nAirlift systems are recommended for use on mid engine cars as they have long coolant lines and complex cooling systems. These things work and will tell you right off if you have a leak in your freshly reconditioned cooling system.\r\nIf you think that you may have a blown head gasket, you can use a standard block testing unit, which is a plastic tube with a stopper for the radiator, and a blue indicator fluid that turns yellow if you have a head gasket leak. Very simple and quick. \r\nHaving a spare wiring harness is nice. Those things are now around $800, so certainly worthwhile. I am missing 6 small carpet segments under both seats. I did order the carpet and ii is sitting at Melvyn Rutter Morgan Garage in England but never got around to having it shipped. \r\n I bought the Michelin tires in 1999 . They have very little wear but are outdated. As for the exhaust sytem..... as mentioned the two resonators will need replacing as they are starting to rust. The two mufflers appear to be in good shape. On the overheating front, as per the previous comments from sjmorgan I believe the solution is the \"Airlift\" treatment as all the pertinent components like a new radiator core, new water pump, new upper and lower rad hoses, new bypss and heater return hoses and a new thermostat have been installed. So its a matter of \"burping\" the engine properly.\r\nI will try to figure out how to upload a short cold start video. That will be testing my technical capabiities but will give it a shot.
