Here we have a historical manufacturer of fabulous, classic 'analog' vehicles trying to keep up with the 'digital'/EV times. However, as thrilled as I am that BMW has brought a new wagon state side, I wish they would be more courageous and give us some product that pays more homage to what made them great. For example, if you think that replacing dashboards with flat panel screens is what the new generation of buyers wants, how about an option to have the digital screen replicate a more traditional analog output? Or better yet, find some cracks in the EV/regulatory environment to give us a couple of 'retro' offerings? The continued production of manual M's is a great start but just think of excitement that would sweep the BMW community if they produced a retro e46+1 or an e39+1? But I digress...I've sat in one of these new M5 touring and it is a beautiful execution of a modern wagon and....according to my dealer, BMW Mgmt are beyond surprised that the wagon is outselling the sedan. Now, if they really want to get blown away, how about a new 3 series touring with an ICE drive train? And a manual tranny?
