These were designed by the same coach builder as the Aston Martin DB4 & DB5 and come with a Chrysler engine and trans. \r\n\r\nOnly downsides are issues with rust and some Lucus electrical components. As the saying goes; they hold the patent on the short circuit, self dimming lights, etc. Nothing you can't fix however, with patience, a multimeter and a soldering gun. \r\n\r\nI think less than 1,000 Interceptor IIIs were imported into the US/Canada market and they're still pretty reasonably priced. We did a feature in one issue which I entitled \u201cSuper Coupes,\u201d and compared superb examples of the Jaguar XJ-S, the Jensen Interceptor III (which the factory oddly referred to as the \u201csaloon\u201d despite being a 2-door, not 4-door), and the Aston Martin AMV8. I\u2019d set up a breakfast at the foot of the Angeles Crest Forest, where was all met, ate, talked and took some initial photos. The concept here was for the owners of the three cars to swap cars back and forth throughout the day\u2019s drive through the Angeles Crest and nearby canyons, twisties, long straights, etc., evaluating the others\u2019 automobiles as well as getting back into their own\u2026taking notes and filling out a questionnaire I\u2019d prepared in advance. The difference in value between this being a genuine all-leather interior (as was original) and one in vinyl (who would do just the bolsters in vinyl?) is substantial. As fragile and as rare in working condition. \n\nIn my Interceptor, the AC system worked when I purchased the car in the 1980s. Shortly thereafter it failed. A Jensen specialist (!) here in the San Fernando Valley\u2014who sadly developed ALS and disappeared from the scene\u2014was able to source one of the very few NOS controls and installed it in my car, along with a new fan speed switch and some other faulty wiring and connectors in there. He said I was lucky\u2014if the heater core sprang a leak, it was a big job! The Gen. III Hemi crate motor requires an ECU and ignition controller. I chose a FAST XFI 2.0 ECU and FAST XIM ignition controller because at the time Chrysler didn't offer an ECU kit with the crate motors. It's possible they do now. \r\n\r\nOnce all this wiring is even contemplated it's pretty clear that the rest of the stock Lucas wiring needs to go away. Which means reconstructing the firewall, and now you've opened the proverbial can of worms which includes modified foot boxes, console, etc.\r\n\r\nOh...and while the Gen. III Hemi is smaller and lighter than the 383-440, it's wider. Insurance companies are KILLING muscle cars, and big blocks. Japan is winning the battle of the imports in the US. Yet, here comes Jensen, an ENGLISH car maker, with a rather stunning 2+2 Saloon, equipped with a Chrysler 440 BIG block V-8. I would say rather brave indeed! I am much more of a Coupe fan than the convertible. To me, the convertible looks awkward when the top is all bunched up on the rear deck. The Coupe is a flowing design, with quite the greenhouse in the back. Which is a working hatch as well. A bit ahead of it's time. It's different. If you wish, quirky. But, it is a somewhat rare car. The problems it has are well known for the Interceptor. Hence, they are issues that have known fixes. Our Seller has done a lot of the fettling this Jensen needs. Yes, there is more to be done. However, how many of you have seen ROTTED Interceptors in the past? I have. This Jensen is in terrific shape compared to many that are sitting in junkyards around the country. Some have mentioned that a PO is not someone you would not want to deal with. That's fine. I will say, the Sterling Gray is gorgeous on this Coupe. Does anyone know if this was a Jensen color? The body is welded to the frame. You can't unbolt the body, the assembly is the ultimate uni-body. And the frame is largely made up of two 4\" tubes which are I believe identical to the 4\" tubes used in the Shelby Cobra. Otherwise the 2015 repaint in Sterling Gray is excellent. \r\nRepairs to footwell - photos 2, 3 and 4 in order after the series of invoices at the bottom of the photo gallery show the very neat repairs which Clint Wright from British Car Repair completed (the middle of the group in the photo on his website) https://www.britishcarrepair.com/. This addressed the issue of the heat radiating from the engine to the footwell... a common problem as I understand it for Jensens. Not a problem in West Browmich where the car was made but something which I wanted to fix as a California driver !\r\nEngine compartment - the additional photos I uploaded show various of the upgrades/ improvements which I detailed (new double fans etc) and reflect hopefully the very clean condition. I removed the air filter as you can see to show the condition of the engine below it. \r\nI'd be happy to answer any final questions you may have and am standing by to be responsive to them. \r\nAlso I took the car out yesterday for a short spin round the neighborhood.
