Knobs on the dash to unscrew and release the assembly, then a bracket on the hood to support the thing when in the down position. \r\n\r\nBut in later years the knobs became bolts, and the hood bracket went away. There's still a piano hinge that makes it fold-down-able...in theory. People have done it. But, keep in mind that the windshield wiper assembly is attached to the top of the windshield frame. I have a feeling that the switch from vacuum wipers to electric wipers coincided with the assertion that the windshield is fixed in place. \r\n\r\nSort of runs in line with the \"removable\" roof. Technically it does come off, but it's more of a commitment to keeping it off or on, not deciding on a Saturday morning to take it off, then put it back on Saturday night.
