The comparison against the W124 Mercedes 300e was automotive journalism at its finest, and even though the 300e was the better car, the 430 was so intriguing to me that I vowed to one day own one.\n\nSo here we are, and I've now fulfilled that dream having been lucky enough to own and drive this car for the last 5 1/2 years.\n\nIt hasn't been without its foibles, but save for a failed clutch slave cylinder, none of them ever prevented the car from starting and moving under its own power. In fact, after all the Biturbo horror stories I read online- probably most from people that never owned these cars - this 430 has been downright to delightful to live with and blast up the New York thruway on occasion, where this car now resides.\n\nThis is a TREMENDOUS highway car. I promise you, it will exceed all your expectations on how a 1980s twin turbo car should feel, sound and deliver its power courtesy of your right foot. It is shockingly fast without ever needing to downshift from 5th gear, refined - with little wind noise - and supremely comfortable. Fuel efficient it is not though :)\n\nI've maintained this car with an open checkbook and always took care of all maintenance, required service and items needing attention promptly. Invoices to backup that statement are viewable in the photos. I just replaced the power steering rack and had the AC evacuated and recharged in preparation for the sale. It blows cold.\n\nThe only items that will require attention by its future owner will be the front passenger side power window regulator and speedometer sensor, which I attempted to fix early in my ownership of the car. The latter is a design flaw these cars left the factory with and even after replacing the sensor, the speedometer needle still has a mind of its own. The passenger window is still functional, but I don't advise rolling the window more than halfway down before replacing the regulator.\n\nThe biggest achilles heel of these cars was the factory fuse box. After putting in a rebuilt fuse box and having that one fail, I turned to Biturbox which is a plug and play solution for the factory box but with superior internals and soldering joints. This car now benefits from that upgrade and the next owner should have years of worry free motoring on that front.\n\nLike most of my fellow BaT'ers, I'm addicted to classic cars and have decided to part ways to make room for something different. This was originally a West Coast car and the underside reflects its life in a salt free environment. I stored this car in a heated garage during winters. I estimate total mileage to be right around 70K miles on the chassis of the car. That estimate is based upon me putting on around 3K miles / year during my ownership - this was a driver that I enjoyed not a garage queen!\n\nDuring previous ownership, in March of 2015 at 54,094 miles, the timing belt failed and the heads were rebuilt by European Car Authority in Redmond, WA. I have the invoice along with all service records going back to 2010. This car has a neat history here in the NW and was owned by the former owner of Grand Prix Motors of Seattle, WA (The Ferrari-Maserati dealer) I sold the car to its 3rd owner when I worked there and purchased it from that owner's son after his passing. These cars are so underrated, they are super comfortable on the road, and the interior is a cocoon of soft Italian leather and beautiful wood, a fine place to be. Parts for these cars are still readily available through MIE here in WA State. I used to drive this car daily when I had her and took many trips over the mountain to Eastern WA during the nice summer months, it will put a grin on your face when the turbos spool up!
