While it was released during Ford's ownership, it was developed by Jaguar for Jaguar, built in the UK, and was not based off any existing Ford architecture. \r\n\r\nWith that said, Ford did build an AJ-based V8 for the Lincoln LS and Thunderbird. But that was Ford adapting a Jaguar engine, rather than Jaguar using a version of a Ford engine. That version was built in Ohio, and some major parts will not interchange. \r\n\r\nThe Jaguar heritage website has a pretty good article about it if you are interested.
