I almost always remember to take the opportunity to remind prospective CX buyers about my two secret tricks about owning these cars. 1/ Install grease nipples between the bearings holding the rear suspension arms and fill that cavity with grease. Gives unlimited life for those bearings and avoids the loss of directional stability that affects a CX when those bearings get worn. \r\n2/ Every year, do the 5 minute job to take out the optical crank sensor and wipe it clean. If it gets dirty it first manifests itself by more cranking before it starts, but it also reduces power and increases fuel consumption. It\u2019s so easy to do that there\u2019s no need to wait until you start detecting any issues. (But it was a great little problem that allowed me to buy many CX cheaply. I hope they're just an artifact of the recording rather than real noises from the car... it's a bit irritating to have a glass-smooth ride which is constantly pierced by odd noises.\n\nVERY nice to see that the a/c works. Many have said this, but even a fully-functioning a/c system in the CX isn't that powerful. The air may be cold, but the fan just doesn't push much air. I live in a very hot part of the country (summer temps in the upper 90s, often humid), and it doesn't really keep up. I wish I had the dual a/c system, but American CX buyers can't be too choosy unless they want to import a car from Europe. The a/c system is probably fine if you live in a less toasty region.\n\n@stanela how is the alignment? I don't see any signs of trouble, just curious. An out-of-alignment CX isn't much fun either--that steering system is forceful about keeping the car in a straight line. If it's off-kilter, it's actually a lot of work to constantly correct it.\n\nAnother topic that potential buyers might find useful: How is the seat foam holding up? Mine has about 160k miles, and the driver's seat is noticeably saggy compared to the passenger's seat. Still super-comfy, though.\n\nI'm a bit confused by the spare tire situation. Being way out front makes it quiet. I got the switch from CX Basis in Germany and the starter motor from Western Hemispheres in Santa Cruz Ca.\r\nAnother added point in my continuing education on CX's, my Prestige needed a fuel pump, (after market okay). I had the car jacked just in front of the rear wheel to get under the car. Guess what? It raised 3 wheels off the ground leaving only a front one intact. Since the car was on a very slight slope, I was concerned about the car rolling so I braced it in place with another car. My point saying that under the car are 2 rectangular box frames front to rear. I doubted the strength of these sections since the DS has box rails the perimeter of the car. Both cars are as rigid as the other.
