But the Jensen Healey is actually a great little car. I happen to own one and it is a unicorn and it still has the sliding, if you can call it that, prop. I bought mine new in Dec, 1973 and it has the Fed bumpers that while very heavey, have saved many of these from a death by parking. The original \"cool\" looking bumpers were at best good for a 2 mile per hour tap and then were dented for life. The rubber bumper could take a 10 MPH hit with no problem unless hit on the corner which created a dimple the size of your fist that was impossible to remove. \r\nLots of hatters of JHs, but they are great fun to drive sans the lack of LSD. The car belonged to Clay Gleason(he called his car \"LUCY\") and had had the hood repaired by someone in Seattle, WA(sorry, don't remember his name). \r\nThe lower supporting piece had been cut open to remove the damaged part. From there, the exposed upper portion could easily be straightened. The removed part was easily straightened as well and a 1/8\" to 3/16\" piece of steel (maybe 12'-16\" long) was placed in the removed section and welded to the remaining inner support piece. I have seen a number of JH that look amazing, but when you pull up everything in the cockpit down to the metal there was significant rust. The reason is that the foil backed felt sound deadening under the carpet was prone to producing condensation that then was trpped in the felt, causing rust from within. These pics only show the felt backing top, so true condition of the floorpans is still unknown.\r\n\r\nNow they floorpans may be fine, they may have some rot that needs to be cut out and replaced. Undercoating does not mean no rust, look at may TR6,7 and 8 and Spitfires. There is rust on the carpet snap which looks exactly like what I saw in other JH that had been in dry storage in places like TX, AZ etc. Again, not saying there is rust, but prospective buyers should be aware of this possibility due to the materials used. But I've got 2 two other Porsche's and recently\r\nbought Enzo Ferrari's daily driver (not the exact car but the same year make model etc.). Oh yeah. I've also have 2 Harley's that I don't ride anymore (one vintage)\r\nand 3 tractors. I told you...anything with an engine. I've bought and sold 1950's cars to Hollywood studios and I've owned celebrity cars. All bought locally where I have lived in San Francisco Tucson and Boulder (but have sold cars\r\ncars internationally). I'm not\r\na Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld type. Why the story? I buy car's using my intuition. I appreciate people trying to mitigate risk but that's not me. It's a game\r\nto me of taking chances.
