I drove that car daily for 7 years & still talk about how reliable & well constructed it was. The electrical connectors had little spring loaded retainers making them easy to connect, disconnect, & stay in place. Far less chance of breaking a connector. All interior panels are so well fitted that my car had hardly a rattle at 190k miles. I put over 100k miles on it. When I sold that car she had nearly 200k miles & still ran strong. It was even impressive in the snow. I wish i would have kept it. Someone is going to get an incredible machine here to enjoy for a long time. She looks very well taken care of. My favorite was a 1996 XJ6 VDP, which I purchased with 40K miles. I call it the nicest place to sit - the quality of the materials far surpassed any other luxury car at the time. The car drove great, was very comfortable and on those few occasions where I got to ride in the back seat - wow, the most comfortable place to sit! The stereo system in my car was made by HK and it's phenomenal. I drove it for over 10 years and it was very reliable. Other than maintenance, the only problem I had was a bad wheel bearing on the right front. Oh yeah, a few of the electronic issues: seat memory, display on the a/c, slight movement in the tilt adjustment, some wood cracking, self dimmer on rear view mirror went bad and of course, the cup holder stopped working pretty early in the life I had the car. I didn't have a sagging headliner, like others have stated. I also ran the car on 87 octane 10% ethanol gas too!\r\n\r\nWhat I loved about the car was the looks (beautiful and unique), comfort, luxury level interior, ride comfort, solid feel, safety and it was pretty reliable for a mid 90's European luxury car.\r\n\r\nWhat happened to my XJ6 VDP? I was in a parking lot and a Ford F150 backed into the left corner. It scraped the stainless steel trim on top of the bumper, cracked the tail light and put a dent in the deck lid. The car has 108K on it and the insurance company called it a total loss at $7,200 + I got to keep the car. I fixed the tail light and passed the brake and light safety test - received my Salvage Title and drove it for a little. Unfortunately, it sat for 6 months, while I was waiting for the insurance co to settle and the clear coat started to go bad. I wound up giving it to my sister.
